(SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — At No. 15, Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn’s cookbook: “Family Favorites From Moonlite, Recipes That Founded A Kentucky Tradition” ($18.95, ISBN: 097668960X), was a hit at Kentucky’s Book Fair. Kentucky’s 24th annual book fair hosted 180 authors and 480 books. Moonlite’s journey to become one of the best sellers at the Kentucky Book Fair began years before.
For over 40 years, the Bosleys’ have been cooking barbecue in Owensboro Kentucky. Their reputation as Pit Masters help put Owensboro on the map as the Barbecue Capital of the World; creating fans far beyond Kentucky’s borders. It was these fans that gave birth to Moonlite’s mail order business and cookbook.
“People find their way to Owensboro from all over for various reasons, from business to family coming home. Moonlite has even become a destination in itself. It is not uncommon for someone to ask us to sign an article or book we have been featured in,” said Patrick Bosley.
It was our fans and their relentless requests for our recipes who brought the cookbook to life. The Moonlite never even looked for a publisher to turn out the cookbook. “It still surprises me when people comment on the quality of our book. I just made the cookbook that I would want to buy and use,” said Patrick Bosley, who managed the project from concept to finish, even learning photography to keep the project or budget. The Moonlite privately published 5,000 books with expectations of selling them in-house over 3 to 4 years. Based on current sales and bookstore orders, the inventory will be depleted in about one year instead.
