TAVARES, Fla., Jan. 12, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — If you’ve always wanted a close-up view of a boat like James Bond’s or an exciting ride in a seaplane, cruise over to the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival on Lake Dora at Wooton Park in Tavares on March 23, 24, and 25, 2012. Those are just a couple of the highlights planned for the 25th anniversary of the largest antique and classic boat show on America’s East Coast.

“The festival definitely will have multiple facets,” said Terry Fiest, chairman for the 2012 event. “We’ll have many different types of antique, vintage, and classic boats, including Glasspars similar to ones featured in James Bond movies and the actual boats used in the 1981 movie On Golden Pond, which starred Henry Fonda. We also are planning an 80-vendor flea market that will feature many nautical items.”

In addition to hundreds of vessels on display in Wooten Park, the festival will offer boat and seaplane rides on Lake Dora. Ground transportation also will have a role during the three-day event with the Central Florida Woody Car Club on hand to showcase vintage automobiles. And rides aboard an old-fashioned steam train will delight the entire family.

“All modes of transportation will be represented this year,” Fiest said. “We also plan to have a rail speedster on display, which is a small car that runs on railroad tracks.”

The Sunnyland Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society represents all of Florida and is the largest ACBS chapter with more than 640 members. The chapter ‘s annual festival is considered one of the best in the country, drawing as many as 10,000 visitors from all over the U.S. and Canada.

Several specialty boat clubs will be represented during the festival including Florida’s Glasspar and Jersey Skiff clubs. Fiest said many members of the Classic Race Boat Association also plan to stay for the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival after they complete a racing event on March 17-18 on Lake Dora.

Admission to the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival is $5 per day or $10 for all three days. Free parking will be available at the Tavares City Garage at 200 N. Sinclair Ave. For more information, please visit the Sunnyland Chapter’s web site at http://acbs-sunnyland.org .

Online registration forms for the festival are now available.

MANORVILLE, N.Y., May 26, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Officer James Greco, founder and CEO of Long Island K-9 Service (www.lik-9.com) and Long Island Security Consultants (www.lisecurity.com), continues his humanitarian mission to provide expert explosives and narcotics detection throughout Long Island and the Metropolitan area. The celebrated security company has recently partnered with The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company to provide canine explosive detection teams for its line of ferries.

The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company is the first ferry in the United States to receive a federal grant to implement explosive detection canine teams.

The ferry company has proved to be a vital link between Long Island, NY and southwestern Connecticut since 1883 and provides service to approximately 400,000 vehicles and one million passengers per year. The events of September 11, 2001 have served to reinforce the company’s commitment to the safety and security of its constituency, the traveling public. With keen awareness of the potential for terrorist activity or narcotics exchange, the company has greatly enhanced security measures including increased awareness training for employees, cutting-edge technology, and explosives detection canine teams.

For more than 15 years, Officer Greco’s celebrated company has employed an intensely trained team of canines and their handlers to seek out contraband and explosive devices at the state and municipal levels. In the private sector, Long Island K-9 was the first agency of its kind to introduce these specialized protection services, and continues to increase its roster of high profile clients.

Long Island K-9 Service has the largest canine training facility on Long Island, with a state-of-the art training facility located on two and one half sprawling acres in Manorville, Long Island.

“We have provided our explosive detection canine teams for Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, United States Federal Government Police, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Congressman and Homeland Security Committee Chairman, Peter King, the Republican Convention in New York City and many prominent celebrities,” states Officer Greco.

The unique company is dual licensed by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the New York State Department of Labor to possess high explosives for its training purposes. The company has also sparked the interest of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) canine division, major airports and airlines, Fortune 500 companies and private security organizations. Officer Greco has appeared on Good Morning America, Japanese television, Inside Edition, News Channel 4, and has held interviews with The New York Times and 880 CBS News Radio. He is available for seminars and demonstrations.

The release stated that TMPS had secured a sales and service agreement from Valley Power Systems for the Volvo Penta Industrial Diesel line, and that TMPS will be providing sales and service for the west coast of the United States, which includes Alaska and Hawaii, and to British Columbia, Canada. The agreement does NOT include British Columbia, Canada.

The release stated that TMPS is the authorized sales and service center for MAN B&W Diesel, Alpha Propulsion Systems. TMPS no longer represents this organization. However, TMPS is now the authorized sales and service center for Yanmar Corporation of Japan, which the release did not mention.

“We regret these errors, which happened due to clerical error, and want to set the record straight,” says Shane Roeser, President of TMPS.

TMPS is known worldwide for their diesel service and engineering department. The company maintains locations in Seattle, Washington, and Tampa, Florida.

TMPS services most makes and types of diesel engines, including medium-speed and slow-speed engines for the marine industry and for diesel power plants. “We are one of the world’s few service facilities that offer this range of experience,” says Herbert Roeser, TMPS’s Chairman.

(TMPS), known worldwide for their diesel service and engineering department, has secured a sales and service agreement from Valley Power Systems for the Volvo Penta Industrial Diesel line. TMPS will be providing sales and service for the west coast of the United States, which includes Alaska and Hawaii. This agreement also extends to British Columbia, Canada.

Volvo Penta is a world-leading supplier of engines and complete power systems for marine and industrial applications, and TMPS – a signed dealer under Valley Power Systems, Inc. – is an international port of call service facility with technicians on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

“The combination of service, spare parts and product is a win-win for both companies,” says Shane Roeser, President of TMPS. “We are excited about the new arrangement. Being a partner with such a strong organization as the Volvo Group gives us clear advantages. We have the flexibility of a small organization together with the technical support from Volvo to fuel our growth and provide our customer base more diesel engine options.”

TMPS has locations in Seattle, Washington and Tampa, Florida. “We can service most makes and types of diesel engines, including medium-speed and slow-speed engines for the marine industry and for diesel power plants,” says Herbert Roeser, TMPS’s Chairman. “We are one of the world’s few service facilities that offer this range of experience.”

(SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — ShipCom, a provider of High Frequency (HF) maritime single sideband voice and electronic mail services has appointed Tusa Consulting Services (TCS) as its authorized radio consultant supportive of emergency operations throughout the states of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and coastal Texas.

ShipCom has been solely authorized by the Federal Communications Commission to provide voice and data communications services to municipal, county, state and federal agencies, hospitals and other emergency responders during emergency events. ShipCom’s HF frequencies are monitored around the clock by skilled operators, thereby providing utmost call security during the most critical 48 hours following an emergency event.

Long distance telephone charges can be billed direct or to any major credit card.

Tusa Consulting Services (TCS) will assist ShipCom and its emergency responder clients in the development of compact, efficient radio antenna systems, procurement of suitable user equipment devices and user training.

KEY WEST, Fla. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — In lieu of a rocky start to 2009, Almost There Charters sees the tide beginning to turn. As a result, they have assembled three different fishing bailout plans to thank their current customers for their continued loyalty and to welcome new customers to rejuvenate their spirit.

Co-owners and captains, Joe Pettit and Scott Coogle, have owned and operated Almost There Charters for more than 20 years. Just recently have their customers expressed concern over the economy and explained their need to cut back vacation time. In response, they have taken action.

“Offering these fishing bailout packages is our way of thanking the local and tourist community for allowing us to continue to work and play in paradise,” Pettit says. “We do what we love and love what we do and want to share that passion with our customers. It’s been a rough year and we all need a break.”

Almost There Charters has designed three packages to lift the spirit. One package provides two free hours of bonus fishing time; another offers three trips – the first two are regular price, but the third is only $50! And, what makes this one even more special is that the $50 is donated to Snowball Express, a charity that provides support to children of fallen military heroes. Finally, two paid fishing trips equal a $100 credit towards a hotel room with an additional $100 for every trip thereafter.

About Almost There Charters

During the course of the past 20 years, Almost There Charters has grown to be the Keys’ largest, family owned and operated light tackle sport fishing company. They have appeared on HBO Sports, ESPN, FOX, and The Travel Channel.

With a state-of the-art fleet, cutting-edge technology, and expert staff, customer satisfaction is the company’s top priority. The company is recognized as a light tackle fishing industry leader by respected manufacturers such as: Honda, Sea Pro Boats, Island Runner Boats, Quantam Reels, Shimano, and more.

Captains Coogle and Pettit combine more than 30 years of competitive and commercial fishing experience which allows them to provide their customers with the fishing experience of a lifetime.

SEATTLE, Wash., Oct. 30 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Alfa Tec Inc., a 15 year old Seattle, Washington-based marine sales and service distributor, is moving into the Gulf region lock stock and barrel with their most recent acquisition of FM Equipment, a respected distributor for Alfa Laval Marine, Oil and Power in the Gulf region. “This is all part of our master plan to supply superior service, spare parts and technical support to our customers located in the Gulf,” states Kevin Oakley, President of Alfa Tec Inc. In 2007 Alfa Tec expanded its operations to the East Coast and Gulf Coast regions by opening a second location in Tampa, Florida.

Alfa Tec Inc. was founded in 1993 as Alfa Laval Inc.’s exclusive distributor to the marine industry on the West Coast and in Alaska. Alfa Laval is the leading global provider of specialized products and engineered solutions. Their equipment, systems and services are dedicated to helping customers to optimize the performance of their processes. Web sites: www.alfatec.com and www.alfalaval.com.

“Alfa Tec and FM Equipment have worked together for many years,” states former owner, Frank Millet, who will stay on as Managing Director in Houma facility. “Our goal is to expand sales and spread the word through the industry about our service capabilities in the Gulf area,” states Millet.

Alfa Tec’s Seattle-based facility currently covers the marine, power, fish processing, food, thermal, industrial and oilfield markets, while the Tampa location focuses on centrifuges, watermakers, heat exchangers, oily water separators and pumps. Alfa Tec’s customer base is broad, but also consists of such well-known companies as KC Transportation, Crowley Marine, Holland America Line’s and OSG.

“We’d like to congratulate Alfa Tec on the recent merger with FM Equipment Co. here in Houma,” says Lynn Ahlemeyer, Vice President of Marine Systems, Inc., based in Houma, Louisiana. “We look forward to working with them in support of the Alfa Laval line. We service many different engines that are very likely to use the new products.”

In addition to Alfa Laval, Alfa Tec Inc. has added several other complimentary quality product lines. Currently, the company is the authorized sales and service center for the following original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s):

	* Alfa Laval

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas, Sept. 22 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — According to the Gulf Intracoastal Canal Association, the Coast Guard, Corps of Engineers and inland barge industry have collaborated extensively since the 2005 hurricane season to better prepare for and respond to hurricane events along the Gulf Coast. Specifically, the collaboration produced a detailed, written protocol for storm preparation, communications and response efforts as they pertain to the marine industry, including rigid procedures for evacuating vessels in advance of a storm, or securing vessels in-place when evacuation is not feasible. The protocol proved effective during Hurricane Gustav, with the exception of isolated incidents inside the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC).

In the New Orleans area, the hurricane protocol originally focused on the vulnerable reach of the Lower Mississippi River below the Port of New Orleans. Knowing that a planned closure of the IHNC Lock in the summer of 2008 could pose additional challenges to the marine industry’s storm preparation and evacuation efforts, the Corps of Engineers and Coast Guard called for a special meeting with the inland barge industry in the spring of 2008 to address potential problems.

During Hurricane Gustav, three vessels that were docked in the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal broke from their moorings, posing potential threat to nearby structures. These vessels were not in active service, and were not owned by any company actively involved in maritime commerce. It is presumed these vessels had been decommissioned and were destined for scrap. A thorough investigation will determine the ownership of these vessels and the reasons why they failed to remain secured during the storm.

Of all the inland barge vessels that were in active service and located within the New Orleans jurisdiction of protocol as Hurricane Gustav approached, ninety-five percent complied with advisories to evacuate the area, and none remained in the IHNC during the storm. As a result, virtually no damage was inflicted by loose barges that were in active service on this reach of the waterway.

The Coast Guard, Corps of Engineers and inland barge industry went to great lengths to anticipate all sources of risk in the IHNC and address them in advance of the IHNC Lock closure in August, including specific procedures and limitations for securing vessels in the IHNC during a storm. There was obviously a failure inside the IHNC during Hurricane Gustav, and pending conclusion of the investigation, additional measures will be developed in order to avoid recurrence of this event.
