ATLANTA, Ga., April 26, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — OxBlue®, pioneers in the construction camera industry, released today several case studies demonstrating the benefits clients have experienced with the OxBlue construction camera systems. “Construction cameras have supported this industry for some time,” stated Chandler McCormack, President of OxBlue.

“But many in the industry may not be fully aware of all the ways this technology can impact their project on a tangible level. With these case studies, we wanted to show just what can be accomplished through the real-world application of our construction webcams and how the cameras deliver real-world results.”

Some of the highlights of the case studies include:

Emery Sapp & Sons: Emery Sapp & Sons received a $600,000 early completion bonus from the Missouri Department of Transportation. The contractor built a bridge right next to the one it was replacing, and then slid the new structure into place. It was able to accomplish such a feat with the precise project monitoring and coordination made possible by OxBlue construction cameras.

Northern Tool + Equipment: Northern Tool runs on tighter, more accurate schedules through up-to-date jobsite monitoring that provides the current status of every project. After realizing the enhanced command and control made possible by OxBlue camera systems, Northern Tool now uses OxBlue construction webcams on all its new store projects.

Noble Investment Group: Noble connects the firm’s principals to projects without airfare or hotel costs. Decision makers remotely view current and historic site images to resolve conflicts and improve collaboration with team members and contractors.

Massaro Corporation: Massaro used OxBlue construction webcams to document project delays that were far out of the contractor’s control, including an archeological find on the jobsite and a fire right next door. High-resolution, time-lapse video evidence from the construction cameras also supported insurance claims.

“OxBlue time-lapse construction cameras lead the industry in performance and reliability in every unique construction environment,” related McCormack. “We hope these case studies provide insight into some of the many everyday situations where they can help keep a project on track to reach a highly successful conclusion.”

To read these case studies in their entirety, visit http://oxblue.com/clients/case_study_register .

About OxBlue:
This text uniquely provides the integration of construction management, project management and business management to enable a quantum leap in construction project quality, productivity and cost control-producing a competitive advantage essential in the now challenging United States construction market.

Demanding building owners in the United States manufacturing, power production, and energy distribution sectors have learned that simply soliciting multiple bids is no longer enough to achieve the results they seek, A paradigm shift to integrated project delivery employing more rigorous project management methodologies is needed. And all construction sectors in some areas outside the United States, particularly the Middle East, demand this improved project management capability and require the PMP (Project Management Professional) certification credential for new employees.

In the United States, the federal government GSA (General Services Administration) agency also makes the PMP credential preferred for new construction related employees – which can make it a de facto requirement in a competitive employment environment. This text is the first to integrate the Project Management Institute’s PMBOK(R) methodology, on which the PMP credential is based, into construction management to provide these now essential skills.

This text, authored by 40-year construction veteran JF McCarthy MBA CFM PMP, provides real world perspectives and skills to make the graduating students work ready-to win their first job and excel throughout their career. And it provides exactly the skills that the power generation and transmission constructions sectors, which have already rebounded and are now aggressively hiring, increasingly demand.

University adoptions and presales sales for the summer and fall of 2012 will continue the present text sales increase. With these continued increases “Construction Project Management – A Managerial Approach” will achieve a dominant share of the construction management academic market within 2-3 years. Winning the Axion Business Book, Indie Next Generation, and International Best Book Awards, it has also become popular with construction industry practitioners and is now in library collections worldwide.

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 8, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems (CMPBS), the oldest continuously operating non-profit organization in the U.S. focused exclusively on green building, sustainable development and ecoBalance design, received a $75,000 grant from the Meadows Foundation, the Dallas-based philanthropic institution dedicated to helping improve the quality and circumstances of life for all Texans. The grant will establish low-carbon, low-potable water alternatives to standard concrete design mixes.

Founded in 1948, the Meadows Foundation has dispersed over $750 million in grants and direct charitable expenditures to over 3,000 Texas institutions and agencies. This is the third major grant CMPBS has received over its 36-year history from the Meadows Foundation. In 1988, CMPBS received a grant for the design and construction of the Laredo Demonstration Blueprint Farm located in Laredo, Texas, and in 1995 a grant to support the design and construction of the Advanced Green Demonstration Building in Austin, Texas. Both projects achieved international acclaim and have had global influence on fundamental concepts about building design, construction, materials and affordability through the building life cycle.

With this $75,000 grant, the Meadows Foundation will enable groundbreaking work to establish low-carbon, low-potable water, by-product based cements and concrete alternatives. “Six percent of the world’s human-influenced CO2 is associated with Portland cement manufacturing, while globally, the production of concrete consumes one trillion gallons of potable water each year. We applaud the Meadows Foundation for supporting this compelling work, with opportunities to move towards a next generation of cement and concrete design mixes relevant to 21st century realities of global climate change and fresh water deficits,” said CMPBS Co-Founder and Co-Director Pliny Fisk III. “We also believe these new cement options will open up new opportunities for resilient, low maintenance, affordable housing applications in Texas and beyond.”

The Meadows Foundation strives to exemplify the principles of its founder in addressing basic human needs by working toward the elimination of ignorance, hopelessness and suffering, protecting the environment, providing cultural enrichment, encouraging excellence and promoting understanding and cooperation among people.

About Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems:
Based in Austin, Texas, Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems is a non-profit education, research, and demonstration organization specializing in ecoBalance planning and design. Established in 1975, CMPBS undertakes collaborative projects based on their potential to positively influence local, regional and global sustainability and social well-being and human health.

Austin home builders primarily consist of the large public builders found in any big city USA and very few of these big builders understand Austin Texas real estate and building in central Texas.

Generations of Texans have chosen Buffington Homes for their homebuilder. As an Austin homebuilder with over forty years of experience in Austin Texas real estate, Buffington Homes is responsible for building thousands of homes throughout Central Texas.

According to the company, “Our dedication to providing the American Dream is only one of the reasons we have grown to be Austin’s largest locally owned homebuilder.”

Because we believe it’s important to honor our commitments, we do what we say we are going to do when we say we are going to do it – this is our philosophy. Throughout the years, our Austin homes designs have evolved to meet the changing needs of the Texas family. Our Austin homes “live well” – offering open family living spaces as well as private get-away areas. Buffington Homes are also “well dressed” – boasting professionally designed exterior color schemes.

We recognize that purchasing your new home is one of life’s most important decisions. Our goal is to make that decision easier by providing excellent customer care.

Buffington Homes recently made changes in the energy efficiencies of our homes making every Buffington Home Energy Star Certified and Energy Star Tested. Most builders use words like Energy Star qualified but very few if any other builders in Austin and Central Texas can claim to build homes that are Energy Star Certified and Energy Star Tested.

If you’re in the market for Austin Texas real estate you need to see a Buffington Home.

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — PLP Digital Systems is expanding its Blueprint for Change program to help reprographers meet today’s demands for Construction Information Management (CIM). This four-month marketing strategy program, which piloted in 2010, is now accepting applications for the 2011 session.

Construction technology represents a significant opportunity to companies with strong relationships in AEC, but whose services have been commoditized and whose volumes are dropping by as much as 30 percent year over year. The Blueprint for Change strategy program (http://www.plp.com/b4c) is designed to guide these print companies into a new market position, and change their brand to increase sales.

John Cronin, CEO of PLP, says “Changes in the construction industry in the way digital content is managed, shared, and distributed is challenging our customers to stay relevant and strategic to their AEC customers. PLP has always worked to help our customers succeed, and we’re excited with the progress our pilot B4C participants have seen.”

PLP Digital Systems has partnered with PLS Launch Solutions, a marketing strategy firm, to offer the Blueprint program. President Michele Gleber says, “It’s tremendously satisfying to help these businesses change and to measure their progress, not in just a new look or tagline, but real revenue growth from technology and CIM services.”

Pilot participants were leading companies like Duncan-Parnell, Lynn Imaging, and Barker Blue, who each have completed major rebranding efforts and seen improved technology sales in 2010.

About PLP Digital Systems:

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Feb. 16 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — In a U.S. economy that needs a boost, Preferred Stadium and Theater Seating and Preferred Seating Designs are excited to announce that they will be creating new designs for high-quality stadium and theater seats through a partnership with three Midwest manufacturers.

Preferred Stadium and Theater Seating will focus on the marketing; Preferred Seating Designs on stadium design build; its partners will handle manufacturing.

“Of course we are thrilled to release new and exciting products in the theater seating arena,” says Frank Sumner, President for Preferred Stadium and Theater Seating, “but we are equally as excited about the impact that it will have on creating American manufacturing jobs.”

The first stadium seats to be released are the Liberty stadium seat and the Tuf seat. The upscale Liberty stadium seat design is manufactured with robotic quality precision and durability; the Tuf Seat is perfect for tighter budgets and may be retrofit onto existing bleachers or risers. Both are compliant with the American Disabilities Act.

Typically, performing art centers and conference centers require more upscale seating. Some more traditional theater seating venues may include: movie theaters, school auditoriums, lecture halls and service areas. Courthouses often are in need of fixed, individual-type seating as well as arena and larger spectator areas.

And, with the continued growth of mega churches, Concert seats are meeting the needs for church seating. These seats provide more leg room and back-to-back spacing. Fold-up, compact theater seats allow for additional space for increased traffic flow through the aisles and for greater seating capacity.

Sumner adds that, “Current outsourcing and importation of auditorium and stadium seats from countries where labor and materials are less expensive, has contributed to a weakened U.S. economy and unemployment; we aim to reverse this trend.”

About Preferred Stadium and Theater Seating:
Preferred Seating Designs LLC specializes in the complete design build of athletic facilities and other large public assembly seating venues. Tiered seating occurs on more than one elevation in the same structure and includes grandstands, bleachers, telescoping and folding seating. From small movable aluminum benches to giant grandstands that cannot be moved, bleachers have flexibility unlike any spectator seating.

The company is led by Richard Barrios, president; and Frank Sumner, vice president. Barrios is recognized as a leading bleacher-seating designer and works regularly with most major U.S.-bleacher manufacturers to design, stamp and approve these types of projects.

With more than 20 years of industry experience, these products are marketed throughout the U.S. and Canada.

AUSTIN, Texas (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — As more and more wind turbines are erected across the open plains, farmlands, and mountain ridges of the United States, the need for ironworkers with specialized construction skills has naturally grown, says the Iron Workers International Union. Ask anyone knowledgeable about wind energy, and you’ll quickly learn that the latest “green” technology – despite a recent surge in public interest – is nothing new to union ironworkers.

In fact, ironworkers have been erecting wind turbines for decades. What is new is a need for independent certifications-driven largely by increased scrutiny of the wind energy sector – meant to improve safety and quality across the industry. In response, the Iron Workers International Union (www.ironworkers.org) – working with the Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT) – is offering wind turbine training programs for union ironworkers to develop key construction skills. Through a new IMPACT (www.impact-net.org) program, certification in torque/tension and tower-climbing and safety procedures, including high-angle rescue procedures, comes from industry-recognized leaders, including Capital Safety (DBI/SALA) (www.capitalsafety.com), Snap-on Industrial (www.snapon.com), and HYTORC.

To provide just-in-time training for ironworker local unions and signatory contractors, the Iron Workers Union (IWU) has teamed with the Francis Tuttle Technology Center (FTTC) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The FTTC (www.francistuttle.edu) is a member of the Wind Energy Training Consortium, a group of training institutions-brought together by Snap-on Industrial in February, 2009-that’s now recognized by the American Wind Energy Association (www.awea.org) as promoting essential skills training for wind turbine technicians.

The 36-hour course, spanning four days, focuses on two major areas of wind turbine construction: tower safety and torque/tension certification. Each session trains up to 10 ironworkers.

In tower safety and rescue training, ironworkers learn about fall protection, as well as high-angle rescue and evacuation techniques, and types of equipment. Specifically, ironworkers learn the proper use, care, and maintenance of height-safety equipment. With successful completion, ironworkers receive a nationally recognized DBI Tower Safety Certificate.

In torque/tension training, ironworkers can gain certification in the use of basic fasteners and proper safety procedures, along with mechanical, electronic and hydraulic torque knowledge. Hands-on learning is enabled by torque-tooling industry leaders Snap-on Industrial and HYTORC. Successful completion of this course component provides three industry recognized certifications.

The training continues to reinforce the Iron Worker’s “iron-clad commitment to the highest jobsite-safety standards [that help] protect ironworkers’ health, and make jobs more profitable,” says Marvin Ragsdale, president of the Iron Workers District Council of Texas and the Mid-South States (www.ironworkerstxmidsouth.com).

Harvey Swift, assistant director of education and training for IMPACT, says union ironworkers present a real advantage to the investors behind wind farm projects. “With continuous, advanced training, today’s union ironworkers are more highly skilled than ever before,” says Swift. “Now, this includes skills that they can immediately apply on ‘green’ construction jobs.”

Part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a U.S. Department of Labor Energy Training Partnership Grant has enabled IMPACT to replicate the FTTC training model in five U.S. cities: Buffalo, NY; Dallas, Joliet, IL; Los Angeles; and Salt Lake City. Each location can train up to 100 ironworkers within the program’s plan.

Julio Gonzalez is the apprenticeship and training coordinator for Iron Workers Union Local 263 in Dallas/Fort Worth. Gonzalez points out that “While ironworkers and their contractors have led the way building and maintaining turbines, the new training program adds requisite turbine-industry certification to ironworkers’ broad construction skill sets.”

“For years, our union ironworkers have been trained to safely erect and maintain wind turbines. Now they have industry-standard certification to validate their skills,” says Greg Schulze, apprenticeship and training coordinator for the IWU in Texas.

Due to the advanced coursework, only journeymen ironworkers with a minimum of three years of field experience who have completed OSHA 10, Subpart R and First Aid/CPR/AED training are eligible for IMPACT’s Wind Turbine Erection Training.

Representing the Iron Workers Union, Schulze and Gonzalez will attend the AWEA Wind Energy Fall Symposium’s Wind Power Health & Safety Workshop, October 26-27, in Austin. For information about the event, visit www.awea.org/events/safety10.

About the Iron Workers Union:
The Iron Workers Union District Council of Texas and Mid-South States represents some 5,000 skilled union ironworkers who make up the area covered by IMPACT Region VI. These men and women help form the backbone of what the Iron Workers Union, its Signatory Contractor Associations, and IMPACT are doing to reinforce the construction industry’s future. To learn more, visit www.getmoregounion.com.

About IMPACT:
IMPACT serves to unite union ironworkers and signatory contractors in partnerships to develop jobs in the United States and Canada. IMPACT programs help foster workplace excellence through customized project tracking, management training, and safety insurance. IMPACT is a joint labor-management, non-profit trust formed under Section 302(c) (9) of Labor-Management Relations (Taft-Hartley) Act.

AUSTIN, Texas (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — While U.S. industries struggle to rebuild, today’s union ironworkers are preparing to lead the next wave of new business construction. That’s because amidst the economic challenges of the past several years the Iron Workers International Union (www.ironworkers.org) – teaming with the Ironworker Management Progressive Action Cooperative Trust (IMPACT) and the Ironworkers National Training Fund (www.ironworkers.org/organization/Apprenticeship.aspx) – has invested heavily in worksite-ready training programs for union ironworkers.

In March, the Iron Workers Union announced an unprecedented alliance with IMPACT (www.impact-net.org) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) (www.osha.gov), designed to help foster a positive working relationship between union ironworkers and OSHA inspectors. The partnership establishes a “National Training Partnership” to revise existing steel-erection training materials, creating eight new training modules. OSHA compliance officers will undertake specialized training at locations across the U.S.

IMPACT Region VI labor co-chair Marvin Ragsdale says the Iron Workers Union’s iron-clad commitment to the highest jobsite-safety standards helps protect ironworkers’ health, and make jobs more profitable by reducing downtime and controlling injury-related costs.

Real-world results back-up the claim. For example, John Bosworth, president of Bosworth Steel Erectors Inc (www.bosworthsteel.com) and IMPACT Region VI management co-chair says “With union ironworkers on the job, we completed the Irving Convention Center, in Irving, TX, working 60,000 ironworker man hours without a single injury incident.”

Results like these are especially worth touting in a time of increased government attention to on-the-job safety. In 2010, for example, OSHA has increased its monitoring and enforcement of safety regulations in the construction industry. Ragsdale explains that the Iron Workers Union’s new training initiative enables OSHA inspectors to better evaluate how government safety standards are being met on the worksite-instead of relying on individual, varying interpretations of policy.

William Brown, president and CEO of Ben Hur Construction Company (www.benhurconstruction.com) and IMPACT National management co-chair, said the partnership signals a “unique opportunity for us to work closely with OSHA compliance personnel to illustrate [...] the quality of our training facilities throughout the country [and] achieve consistent interpretation and enforcement of the OSHA Subpart R – Steel Erection standards.”

Additionally, the Iron Workers National Training Fund announced the curriculum for its 26th annual Ironworkers Instructors Training Program (www.ironworkers.org/organization/Apprenticeship.aspx), designed to help ironworker instructors polish their teaching skills. Several new and revised course offerings were added in 2010 to approximately 50 existing classes. New courses include green awareness training, operating layout instruments, mathematics, conveyor installation, and industrial maintenance. IMPACT will host a Safety Insurance Seminar (www.impact-net.org/NewsDetailsView.aspx) onsite for signatory contractors to learn how to reduce insurance costs and enhance jobsite safety. The Instructors Training Program is scheduled for July 13-23 in Ann Arbor, MI.

Ragsdale, who also serves union ironworkers as president of the Iron Workers District Council of Texas and the Mid-South States (www.ironworkerstxmidsouth.com), says union ironworkers present a real advantage to employers planning new construction projects. “With continuous, advanced training, today’s union ironworkers are more broadly skilled than ever before,” says Ragsdale. “Our unparalleled safety-training programs and industry-leading, drug-free-worksite initiatives create a true framework for contractors to confidently hire union ironworkers.”

Year-round, the Iron Workers Union and IMPACT support training for union ironworkers-even between projects and through periods of unemployment. Through National Training Fund Regional Training Centers, ironworker instructors can attend train-the-trainer classes to help continually upgrade teaching skills.

Ironworker Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees (JATCs) provide multi-year apprenticeship programs to help train the next generation of union ironworkers. Ironworker apprentices compete in local, regional, and international events to demonstrate the skills they’ve learned. In June, the skills of a new generation of ironworkers were put to the test at the Iron Workers District Council of Texas and the Mid-South States District Council Apprenticeship Competition, hosted by Local 482 in Austin, TX, June 4-5.

Drawing contestants who won local competitions, the District Council Apprenticeship Competition comprises as many as eight skills tests. Each test measures proficiency in a different area of ironworking knowledge from welding to ornamental construction. These regional events prepare ironworkers for the biannual National Apprenticeship Competition (www.ironworkers.org/events/apprcomp.aspx), hosted by The National Training Fund and IMPACT. This year’s event will be held in Seattle, WA, September 17-20, 2010.

Based on their achievements in Austin, and last year’s competition in Houston, TX, two ironworkers from the District Council will compete against their peers from across the U.S. and Canada in Seattle this September. This year’s competitors are Kyle George of Local 48 (www.ironworkers48.org), Oklahoma City, OK, who is currently employed by Allied Steel (www.alliedsteelerectors.com) in Oklahoma City, and Jake Crofford of Local 482 (www.ironworkers482.org), Austin, who is employed by Precast Erectors in Hurst, TX.

“These competitions provide a fun, yet practical way for union ironworkers to demonstrate proficiency in a controlled environment-with some healthy competition from their peers,” says Greg Schulze, apprenticeship and training coordinator for the State of Texas. “They get to network with other ironworkers, and take home well-deserved recognition and maybe a nice trophy, too.”
