BROCKTON, Mass., Feb. 23, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Project Moves Dance Company, Inc., the resident company of The Gold School of Dance Art in Brockton, Mass., is proud to announce its inaugural season opener, “One Human Race.” Performances for One Human Race will be held March 17 and 18, 2012, at the Boston Center for the Arts, Stanford Calderwood Pavilion. Tickets are $32 General Admission and available at the company’s website, www.projectmoves.org. Sponsorship packages for the non-profit 501(c)3 company are also available through the website.

“We are proud to begin our season with dance performances that expand on our message of understanding, tolerance and acceptance to a broad arts audience,” says company artistic director and choreographer, Rennie Gold. “The young dancers of Project Moves began this journey in 2010 with the strong desire to be the change generation by speaking out against bullying, a subject that hits close to home for many of the dancers. Inspired by the work of Kevin Epling, who lost his son to bullycide in 2002, One Human Race expands on that message and challenges all of us on our attitudes toward acceptance.”

The company’s last performance, the critically-acclaimed “Accept ME,” premiered to full houses in Massachusetts and New York. “Riveting, awesome, polished, powerful, moving,” were the words used by Kevin Epling after experiencing Accept ME. “The most effective tools anti-bullying advocates have are prevention, education and raising awareness. Project Moves is triumphantly educating and raising awareness to national audiences through their art.”

Faced with high demand the company took their message of acceptance to one of the most prestigious dance stages in the country, The Joyce Theatre in New York City. And, upon invitation of the show producers, members of the dance company performed in a special segment about bullying on ABC’s top-rated “Dancing with the Stars.”

About Project Moves Dance Company:
Project Moves Dance Company, Inc. is dedicated to encouraging positivity, passion, and personal growth through movement and the art of dance. By advocating a message of acceptance and tolerance, the company is creating a platform that empowers young dance artists with the knowledge, compassion and understanding necessary to create works that address the most pressing issues of today’s youth, thus transforming the artists and their audiences alike.

NEW YORK, N.Y., Jan. 24, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- What happens when a global superpower imposes its social conventions and political practices on a smaller, less 'civilized' nation? 'Utopia Limited,' Gilbert and Sullivan's shockingly relevant satire of imperialism and globalization, tackles this question in a fresh new edition by the Blue Hill Troupe, April 20-28, 2012 at El Teatro of El Museo del Barrio (1230 Fifth Avenue at 104th Street).

NEW YORK, N.Y., Jan. 24, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — What happens when a global superpower imposes its social conventions and political practices on a smaller, less “civilized” nation? “Utopia Limited,” Gilbert & Sullivan’s shockingly relevant satire of imperialism and globalization, tackles this question in a fresh new edition by the Blue Hill Troupe (www.bht.org), April 20-28, 2012 at El Teatro of El Museo del Barrio (1230 Fifth Avenue at 104th Street).

Before there was Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street, there was Utopia Limited. Although it was written over a century ago, the work features scathing political satire and demonstrates a level of resonance with current events, world finance, and global politics that is positively eerie.

Well-meaning but hapless ruler controlled by conniving, self-interested cronies? Check. Vibrant, politically aware princess with progressive ideas? Check. Smooth-talking policy wonks selling their lies with song and dance? A reactionary movement that’s just a few ideas short of an uprising? Check and check! Of course, there are also romantic entanglements, glorious music, sumptuous costumes, lavish sets, and un-miked singers over a full orchestra.

Tickets to Utopia Limited range in price from $28 to $100 and are available online at www.bht.org or by calling 866-811-4111. Payment in excess of $20 per ticket is tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.

The Blue Hill Troupe is New York City’s only musical theater group to donate its net proceeds to charity. Proceeds from Utopia Limited will benefit “I Have A Dream” Foundation(R) – New York Metro Area http://www.ihaveadreamfoundation-ny.org .

In addition to ticket sales, the Blue Hill Troupe raises money for its charities through paid advertising in the 200-page glossy show program. For more information, visit http://bht.org/advertise.php .

For over thirty years, IHDF-NY has been sponsoring entire grade levels of students in under-resourced public schools and housing developments, and working with these “Dreamers” from early elementary school all the way through college. Upon high school graduation, each Dreamer receives guaranteed tuition assistance for higher education. By helping Dreamers gain access to college, IHDF-NY is putting them on different academic and life trajectories, while having a broader impact on the students’ families and the generations that follow.

The Blue Hill Troupe is currently accepting proposals for its charity partner for the 2012-2013 season. Visit http://bht.org/charityselect.php for further information.

Utopia Limited is directed by Gary Slavin, whose recent Off Broadway credits include Show Choir! – The Musical and the hit political revue Bush Is Bad. Musical direction is by Zachary Schwartzman, an associate conductor with New York City Opera and Glimmerglass Opera.

Since 1924, the Blue Hill Troupe has produced a large-scale Gilbert & Sullivan operetta every spring, with lavish production values and full orchestra. Each year, the net proceeds benefit a different New York City charity, with the impressive total donated topping $3.5 million. Prior charities include The Carter Burden Center for the Aging (2011), The New York Foundling (2010), Inwood House (2009), and Covenant House New York (2008).

The all-volunteer Blue Hill Troupe has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. For fifteen years, they presented a concert in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Concerts and Lectures series, and they continue to concertize in venues around the city.

In its 88-year history, the Blue Hill Troupe has produced the entire Gilbert & Sullivan canon, including Thespis, the pair’s first collaboration, to which Sullivan’s score has been lost. In June 2008, the Blue Hill Troupe presented a concert version of Thespis, with a new score by Grammy Award-winning composer and record producer Thomas Z. Shepard. In 2005, the Blue Hill Troupe was honored with three awards at the 12th Annual International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, UK, for its innovative production of the G&S rarity, The Grand Duke.

The Blue Hill Troupe accepts applications for membership each fall. For more information, visit http://bht.org/join.php .

“I’ve always had a soft spot for music that scares the living daylights out of people,” said Joshua Rosenblum, the group’s founder and music director, “So we’ll be ushering in Halloween with a few choice terrifying tunes. And if the music doesn’t frighten anyone, my Michele Bachmann mask will.”

WHAT:	Pit Stop Players: Dark Side of the Tune
WHEN:	Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
WHERE:	DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Benzaquen Hall
450 W. 37th Street, New York, NY
TICKETS:	$25 ($15 for Students) www.SmartTix.com (or cash at the door).
INFO: http://rosenblummusic.com/pitstop.html .

Instead of traditional Halloween concert fare, such as “Night on Bald Mountain” and “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” the concert will include evocative but lesser-known creations by Bolcom, Ives, Prokofieff and Schubert, as well as five works composed especially for the occasion. The new offerings include pieces by Gary William Friedman (The Me Nobody Knows, The Electric Company), Josh Schmidt (Adding Machine, The Minister’s Wife), Michael Starobin (Orchestrator: Sunday in the Park with George, Next to Normal), and the conductor’s 15-year-old son, Julian Rosenblum, in his professional debut.

The Pit Stop Players, who collectively have played in pit orchestras for over 120 Broadway productions, include Ed Matthew, Steve Kenyon, and Don McGeen, woodwinds; Chris Jaudes, trumpet; Wayne Goodman, trombone; Dan Culpepper, horn; Robin Zeh, violin; Paul Woodiel, violin; Alissa Smith, viola; Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf, cello; Garah Landes, piano; Jeff Carney, bass; and Greg Landes, percussion.

Rosenblum, who founded the Pit Stop Players in 2009 as a means of giving Broadway musicians a chance to climb out of the pit and take center stage, says that nearly any genre is fair game for their programs, including traditional and contemporary classical, jazz, rock, fusion, and film music. However, the primary emphasis is on new compositions and arrangements, written and orchestrated specifically for the group.

The players will be in Halloween costumes, and audience members are encouraged to come dressed for the occasion as well.

Composer, conductor and pianist Joshua Rosenblum has led the orchestras for thirteen Broadway and Off Broadway shows, including Wonderful Town, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Music Man, Miss Saigon and Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas. He is also the composer/creator of BUSH IS BAD, the hit Off Broadway satirical revue, and the composer/co-lyricist of Fermat’s Last Tango, Einstein’s Dreams, Garbo and Me, and the forthcoming The Haunted Hotel.

WHAT: A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM.

“Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!” Broadway’s greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written – the perfect escape from life’s troubles. Forum takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from the time-tested, 2000 year-old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan for his young master, in exchange for freedom.

WHEN: October 28, 29; November 2, 3, 4, 5 at 8:00 p.m.

WHERE: Theatre at St. Clement’s, 423 West 46 Street (between 9th & 10th Avenues). Please note: no elevator access to the theater; stairs must be negotiated.

Andy Sandberg directs, with musical direction by Eric Peterson and choreography by Janet Bushor. The Blue Hill Troupe has presented five other works by Stephen Sondheim: Into the Woods (2008), Sweeney Todd (2001), Company (2000), A Little Night Music (1993), and Follies (2005), which was honored by BroadwayWorld.com as “Semi-professional theatre at its finest.”

The Blue Hill Troupe is proud to partner with the “I Have A Dream” Foundation – New York Metro Area for the 2011-2012 season. For over thirty years, IHDF-NY has been sponsoring entire grade levels of students in under-resourced public schools and housing developments, and working with these “Dreamers” from early elementary school all the way through to college. Upon high school graduation, each Dreamer receives guaranteed tuition assistance for higher education. By helping Dreamers gain access to college, IHDF-NY is putting them on a different academic and life trajectory, while having a broader impact on the students’ families and the generations that follow.

In April 2012, the Blue Hill Troupe will unveil a newly revised and reworked edition of Gilbert & Sullivan’s wickedly relevant political satire Utopia, Limited.

About Blue Hill Troupe, Ltd.:
In its 88-year history, the Blue Hill Troupe has produced the entire Gilbert & Sullivan canon, including Thespis, the pair’s first collaboration, to which Sullivan’s score has been lost. In June 2008, the Blue Hill Troupe presented a concert version of Thespis, with a new score by Grammy Award-winning composer and record producer Thomas Z. Shepard. In 2005, the Blue Hill Troupe was honored with three awards at the 12th Annual International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, UK, for their innovative production of the G&S rarity, The Grand Duke. The Blue Hill Troupe has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and appeared with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. For fifteen years, they presented a Gilbert & Sullivan concert as part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Concerts and Lectures series.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Moscow Circus on Stage rolls in on December 11, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the Wilshire Ebell Theater, TicketsR.com announced today. Tickets are $40 to $60 and can be purchased by visiting www.TicketsR.com. The Moscow Circus on Stage has a new show for both children and adults created by Victor Shulman.

For a quarter-century, impresario Victor Shulman has introduced some of the biggest names in music, dance and theater from the former Soviet Union to audiences around the world.

“Stars of the Russian Circus” is a rich combination of excitement, entertainment and drama that can only be created by some of the greatest circus performers on earth. Many of the critically acclaimed acts are pushing the boundary of human physical ingenuity to its limits.

This show will offer aerial circus acts, amazing clowns, gymnasts, jugglers, contortionist, one of a kind musical instruments, jump roping dogs and so many more of the best acts in the two hundred year history of the Russian circus.

“People should not confuse this with a ‘Disney on Ice’ or some other circus show,” Shulman said. “These are circus performers audiences would find in shows like the ‘Cirque du Soleil.’ We have found the greatest gymnasts and finest circus acts and put them on stage.”

This is not the first time Shulman has put circus acts together. Several years ago, he put together a show, “Russian Circus on Ice,” which toured Europe, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

Tickets to the concert are being sold on www.TicketsR.com, a local California based ticketing company with a box office located in Sherman Oaks on Ventura Blvd. TicketsR.com staff has over nine years of on-line ticket sale experience. “We are a customer-oriented company that works hard to maintain accuracy, timeliness, and satisfaction,” said company representative, Alex Durmashkin.

CHICAGO, Ill. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — “First Evidence,” a solo, contemporary circus show created by Shayna Swanson, founder and artistic director of Aloft – Chicago’s “most badass contemporary circus company” – will debut this December. Utilizing 2,000 marbles, a ream of paper, a skinny rope, one freethinking wheel, precarious strips of cloth, a slingshot, spinning pole, a change of clothes, every available muscle and 15 years of journal entries, Swanson weaves together a stunning show filled with surprises and revelations.

To add an air of mystery, the exact location will not be revealed until tickets are purchased, it will be somewhere in the Chicago’s near west side. Show times are: Friday, December 10 at 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, December 11 at 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and $20.

Simple props and a deceivingly minimal stage highlight Swanson’s signature power and intensity as she magnifies life’s fleeting and defining moments – how grand possibilities can slip away and the subsequent regret felt when they are gone.

The show was inspired by the artist’s questioning: Did the time invested pay off or just hold me back? What happens if trying never gets me anywhere? Why does practicing saying, “Everything is fine,” not make everything fine?

The show begins with a lie and hurtles towards honesty with alternating restraint and release as Swanson climbs, spins and claws her way towards resolution.

To purchase tickets visit www.aloftloft.com – tickets will sell out.

About Shayna Swanson:
During the last five years, Swanson has created four full-length shows for Aloft, including the critically-acclaimed, “Rolling Blackouts” and “Dinner of Our Discontent.” For the last two years, she has produced the monthly circus cabaret, “El Circo Cheapo Cabaret,” which presented some of the best circus acts in the U.S. in a straightforward and unpretentious environment. The show hit the road in 2009 for a successful nationwide tour.

In “First Evidence,” Swanson turns her focus inward, revitalizing hibernating skills and pushing herself towards a more personal form of storytelling through contemporary circus. She culls back into her past as a visual artist, musician, dancer and spoken-word artist to discover the moments when she turned her attention away from those skills to become a circus performer. She searches for what was lost when she left them behind.

For more than 14 years, Swanson has created and performed aerial works that have been described by the Chicago Reader as, “Truly heartfelt and creative.” After studying dance at Columbia College Chicago and graduating with a degree in sociology from Portland State University, she decided her true place was in the air. She attended Circus Maniacs Circus School in England and studied aerial hoop, trapeze, rope, tumbling and stilts. Since her return to the U.S., she has been performing and teaching with The Midnight Circus, Circus Smirkus, Cirque de la Mer, Zyngara, New Vision Cirque, Circesteem, The Lyric Opera, Cirque Voila and many corporate clients.

In 2005, she received the Glenn P. Davis Scholarship to the Aerial Dance Festival, awarded every year for excellence in aerial choreography. That same year, Swanson formed “Aloft Aerial Dance” and, with a CAAP grant from the City of Chicago, produced “Rolling Blackouts.” In 2006, her choreography was selected into the repertory of Thodos Dance Chicago and featured in the Best of Dance Chicago Showcase. That same year she was named a “Mover and Shaker” of the Chicago dance scene. Her work was also presented at the International Circus Performer’s Gathering in Brattleboro, Vermont, and at many Chicago dance festivals.

Swanson formed the Aloft Loft in April 2006 to provide a supportive and vibrant community training space for all types of physical artists. She was also honored to perform at the International Clown Festival in Shanghai, China and as a part of Hong Kong’s Olympic festivities. In 2009, she was a featured act at Pegasus Variete in Germany and for the last two years, at the Moisture Festival of Comedy and Variety in Seattle.
