LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 13, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Songwriters getting together to share their work in the up-close-and-personal setting of a “round” is a Nashville tradition that’s now coming to The Other Door in North Hollywood in a special Thursday evening performance on May 16 featuring Jane Bach, Sandra Piller, Kaela Gardner, and Jim Huff.

“It’s exciting to bring a songwriter’s round to NoHo,” notes Jane Bach, organizer of the event with Piller Sounds Music (www.pillersoundsmusic.com). “There is an intimacy to a round that you won’t often find at most clubs.” This special one-time performance will feature four singer-songwriters: Bach (www.janebach.com), who has flown in from her Nashville home for the event; Shady Hill Records artist Sandra Piller (www.sandrapiller.com); Ohio-born country girl Kaela Gardner, who grew up singing in church and has recorded with Disney, Disney Radio, Saddleback Church, and Upscale Records; and Jim Huff, who has written songs with Joe Bonamassa, Holly Brook (performing as Skylar Grey), Franky Perez, and Louise Goffin. Scott McLaughlin will be featured on guitar.

Bach wrote one of Reba McEntire’s biggest hit songs, “The Last One to Know.” She also is the writer of hits for Jo Dee Messina, Ray Price and others. Frequently appearing in songwriter rounds all around the country, Bach will be the evening’s host as well as one of the performers.

Piller will perform numbers from her latest full album, “Days Like These,” and her 6-song EP, “Love Goes On,” which is dedicated to her late husband, Michael. “While it’s great to see fans of my music, it is so uplifting to see people who feel so close to Michael for all his great work,” Piller adds. “When Jane and I appear at Star Trek and Deep Space 9 conventions, the people who remember Michael with love just make my day.”

A strong supporter of the Nashville songwriter-in-the-round format, Bach says “You never know when you’ll be hearing a song that will become the next big hit.” The Other Door event will follow the classic format of the round, with all songwriters on stage at the same time. A writer plays one of their songs, followed by the next writer, and the next, and so on. “The camaraderie and sharing is a delight to watch,” Piller notes.

The Other Door is located at 10437 Burbank Blvd (just East of Cahuenga Blvd.) in North Hollywood. Phone: (818) 508-7008. The club has a full bar with free parking in their lot and on the street. There is a $10 dollar cover. Showtime is 9:00pm to 10:15pm.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Feb. 14, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Written and directed by international chanteuse, Juliet Annerino, “THE LORD’S LOVER” breaks conventional boundaries of modern stage with cabaret, performance art, live music, dramatic theater, exotic dance, and cutting edge video imagery. The intricacies of human sexuality and controversial themes of desire and free will are explored and celebrated. Surreal elegance, satirical drama and philosophical hi-jinks collide in this passionately charged exploration into the timeless mysteries of Love and God.

According to Annerino, “‘The Lord’s Lover’ is sexy, yet thought-provoking, playful, yet surprisingly poignant. World-renowned performance poet Jim Bolt emcees, in a white top hat and tails, leading us through the night’s adventures.”

Juliet will lead her band of cabaret/jazz musicians with “The Torch Ensemble.”

“The Lord’s Lover” will play Wednesday nights throughout March and April at the newly renovated Club Los Globos, making the most of the new lights, sounds and stage effects, and maximizing Los Globos’ charm and adaptive space to the creative flow of “The Lord’s Lover’s” multimedia style. Food and mixed drinks make this a great “dinner and a show” date night.

“The Lord’s Lover” is a true Labour of Love for its creator, Juliet, who has drawn on her keen observations of cultural and gender differences worldwide, as she’s toured and sung throughout Europe and the Middle East.

Gratefully and humbly Juliet seeks your assistance in supporting this production: “If you’d like to be an angel and pitch in to the Indiegogo.com fundraiser for the show, you’ll be rewarded with perks such as a signed ‘Declaration of Sainthood’ for a $100 donation, or even a ‘Day in the Life of a Deity’ for a $5,000 donation.”

Maybe, for the right price, you could get a date with the incomparable Juliet herself. Well… maybe a kiss…? (See: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/328764/ for details.)

Come with – or without – your loved one.

Conceived by award-winning choreographer and Artistic Director Charles Maple, this unique production is sure to transport families to a fairytale world of magic, drama and romance.

Performances are at 1:30 p.m. and in the evening at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. A children’s event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets for Snow White are $30 for adults and $26 for children 12 and under and seniors. The children’s afternoon tea and workshop is an additional $20 per person and may be purchased directly from the Maple Youth Ballet.

Maple Youth Ballet’s adaptation of “Snow White,” written by the Brothers Grimm, is a classic tale of good versus evil. Like “Swan Lake,” the story pits two beautiful and powerful women against each other: the innocent princess against the jealous Evil Queen. The story unfolds as the princess flees the Evil Queen and finds shelter and friendship from the Seven Dwarfs.

“In creating ‘Snow White,’ I wanted to stitch all of these – the vivid characters together with movement, music, dramatics and costumes to create a work full of continuous adventure,” said Maple. “It has been great fun choreographing this production because Snow White is really a thriller that is full of twists and turns and offered great artistic opportunities as I interpreted it.”

The cast is led by Ali Willson, 16 of Newport Beach in the role of “Snow White,” and Cinamin Stulik of Newport Beach as the Evil Queen. Stulik is a graduate of the dance program at the University of California, Irvine and her daughter is also in the production.

Under the leadership of Maple and co-founder Kathy Crade, the Maple Youth Ballet’s previous productions of “The Nutcracker,” “Coppelia” and “Sleeping Beauty” have been sold-out successes. While capturing the magic and heritage of classical ballet repertoire, the company’s style is playful and humorous that makes it accessible to audiences of all ages.

To order tickets for “Snow White,” please visit the Maple Youth Ballet page at http://www.mapleconservatory.com/youthballet or the Irvine Barclay Theatre website.
Considered by many to be the gem of the Gilbert & Sullivan canon, “The Mikado” is an irresistible concoction of rapturous melody, witty satire, and exotic locale, peopled with unforgettable characters.
The Blue Hill Troupe is currently accepting proposals for its charity partner for the 2014-2015 season.
“The Mikado” is directed by Gary Slavin, whose recent Off Broadway credits include “Show Choir! – The Musical” and the hit political revue “Bush Is Bad.” Musical direction is by Zachary Schwartzman, an assistant conductor with the American Symphony Orchestra.

Since 1924, the Blue Hill Troupe has produced a large-scale Gilbert & Sullivan operetta every spring, with lavish production values and full orchestra. Each year, the net proceeds benefit a different New York City charity, with the impressive total donated approaching $4 million. Prior charities include “I Have A Dream” Foundation(R) – New York Metro Area (2012), The Carter Burden Center for the Aging (2011), The New York Foundling (2010), and Inwood House (2009).

The all-volunteer Blue Hill Troupe has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall. For fifteen years, they presented a concert in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Concerts and Lectures series, and they continue to concertize in venues around the city.

In its 89-year history, the Blue Hill Troupe has produced the entire Gilbert & Sullivan canon, including “Thespis,” the pair’s first collaboration, to which Sullivan’s score has been lost. In June 2008, the Blue Hill Troupe presented a concert version of “Thespis,” with a new score by Grammy Award-winning composer and record producer Thomas Z. Shepard. In 2005, the Blue Hill Troupe was honored with three awards at the 12th Annual International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, UK, for its innovative production of the G&S rarity, “The Grand Duke.”

WHAT: Pit Stop “Snapshots III”
WHEN: Monday, February 11, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street.
TICKETS: $25 ($15 for Students and Members) at (212) 864-5400 or http://symphonyspace.org .
INFO: http://www.symphonyspace.org/event/7291-pit-stop-players .

The group members will perform pieces by Charles Ives, Ernesto Lecuona (“the Cuban Gershwin”), Jeff Levine, David Wolfson, and John McLaughlin (of the fusion group Mahavishnu Orchestra), and Joshua Rosenblum, the group’s founder and music director. The program will also feature an arrangement of Paul McCartney’s James Bond title song “Live and Let Die,” and a set of variations on “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.”

“I think we’re the only group in town that covers this much ground stylistically,” said Rosenblum. “On this concert we go from contemporary classical to pop to jazz to fusion. That way, if you don’t like a piece, just give us a few minutes, and we’ll be on to something completely different.”

The Pit Stop Players, who collectively have played in pit orchestras for over 100 Broadway productions, include Ed Matthew, woodwinds; Steve Kenyon, woodwinds; Chris Jaudes, trumpet; Wayne Goodman, trombone; Dan Culpepper, horn; Robin Zeh, violin; Paul Woodiel, violin; Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf, cello; Jeff Carney, bass; Greg Landes, percussion; Garah Landes, piano; and Joshua Rosenblum, piano.

Rosenblum, who founded the Pit Stop Players in 2009 as a means of giving Broadway musicians a chance to climb out of the pit and take center stage, says that nearly any genre is fair game for their programs. However, the primary emphasis is on new compositions and arrangements, written and orchestrated specifically for the group.

Rosenblum, who was trained as a classical pianist, has led the orchestras for thirteen Broadway and Off Broadway shows, including “Wonderful Town,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” “The Music Man,” “Miss Saigon,” and “Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” He is also the composer/creator of BUSH IS BAD, the hit Off Broadway satirical revue, and the composer/co-lyricist of “Fermat’s Last Tango” and “Einstein’s Dreams.” His instrumental music has been recorded on two CDs: “Impetuosities” and “Sundry Notes,” both on the Albany Records label.

Rosenblum has written pieces on commission for Phil Smith, principal trumpeter of the New York Philharmonic; Ethel, America’s premiere post-classical string quartet; and the Chase Brock Experience dance troupe, among many others. He teaches Composing for Musical Theater at Yale University, his alma mater, and was recently awarded a grant from the Signature Theatre in Washington, D.C., as part of the American Musical Voices Project: The Next Generation.
