KIRKLAND, Wash., Nov. 21, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Thanksgiving is a time to join with family to say thanks for life’s blessings. It can also be a time to make sure those blessings continue year after year, uninterrupted by the financial impact of long-term health issues. “According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, about 7 in 10 of us over age 65 will need long-term care at some point,” says Denise Gott, National Sales Manager and Chairman of the Board of LTC Financial Partners, LLC (LTCFP).

“But when you consider that several family members are at risk,” she continues, “the odds of your family unit being impacted are almost 100 percent.”

This hard fact doesn’t have to be bad news, though, Gott asserts. She recommends bringing up the LTC issue at some point Thursday. “When is a better time?” she asks. “Everyone will be together in one place. And hopefully everyone will be in a relaxed, receptive frame of mind.”

Questions that might be raised include -

* If you, your spouse, Mom or Dad, your brother or sister, or other family member suddenly needs long-term care, how will it be paid for? Is an LTC insurance policy in force? If not, would it make sense to look into one?

* If Mom or Day, say, were to need long-term care suddenly, who would have the time to care for them personally if there’s no insurance to cover professional care? Who has a spare room, or who could afford time away from work or family responsibilities?

* What about the question of inheritance? Are you expecting something from Mom or Dad – to help pay your kids’ college bills, perhaps? Or if you’re the aging Mom or Dad, are you expecting to pass something on to your family? Remember that long-term care expenses can quickly consume one’s assets, leaving little or nothing to bequeath.

* Is Medicaid an option you’re considering for long-term care expenses? If so, remember that one must exhaust assets in order to qualify for Medicaid.

“Why not make every Thanksgiving, from here on, a little more hopeful – by attacking the long-term care threat now?” Gott asks. “Consider all the thinking and discussing you do just to plan for the turkey dinner and getting together. Why not make time for a side conversation on long-term care – an issue vital to everyone’s future happiness?”

KIRKLAND, Wash., July 4, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — LTC Financial Partners, LLC (LTCFP), wants to protect the personal freedom of those who may need long-term care, and their potential caregivers. “On Independence Day, why not plan to secure your future freedom of choice?” says President Craig Smith? LTCFP is one of America’s largest and most experienced long-term care insurance agencies.

According to Craig Smith, many Americans lose their free-ranging lifestyles when a loved one, unprotected by long-term care planning, suddenly needs help with the tasks of daily living. “Suppose your parent, spouse, or child suffers an illness or accident requiring long-term care. You could easily become the default caregiver,” says Smith. “How would that affect your income and your life? Your individual freedom could be seriously compromised.”

In addition, Smith points out, when there’s been no long-term care planning, the independence of those needing care may also be seriously compromised.

The answer, according to Smith, is to plan for long-term care needs well in advance. This may involve setting aside savings to pay for professional care, taking out long-term care insurance, or modifying one’s home to make it easier for a disabled person to move about, dress, cook, or use the bathroom.

“Regular health insurance and Medicare don’t cover most long-term care expenses,” says Smith. “And Medicaid assistance is designed for those without assets.” He also points to a Prudential Financial Inc. survey which found that 74% of consumers age 55 to 65 said they were concerned about needing some kind of long-term care.

LTCFP is a co-founder and sponsor of the “3 in 4 Need More” campaign, run by the 3in4 Association, which seeks to multiply the number of Americans protected by long-term care planning. More information: http://web.ltcfp.com and http://www.3in4needmore.com .

The idea of linking long-term care independence with the 4th of July originated with Peter Molnar, an LTCFP Partner who observed that “Americans need independence” in spite of long-term care requirements, and that July 4 was the perfect day to recognize this.

TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 16 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Just released this week by Good Gets Better Publishing, is a new Christmas song, titled “Haley’s Christmas,” performed by 13 year old Haley Mann. Haley’s Christmas tells the story of a young girl who looks forward to seeing her father on Christmas day who only visits her once a year.

Instead of the normal expectations of many children who look forward to Christmas and to the gifts they will receive, Haley points out the one thing that matters most; the love for family and the relationship between a father and daughter.

Today, with so much separation of family members due to divorce or jobs, or even military assignment, Haley’s Christmas is a great reminder for 2010 that the most important values of the holiday season are those of family and the strength of those relationships.

“I believe that this song has a statement to make in 2010,” says songwriter Kimberly Fuller, who wrote the song.

“I was inspired by my two daughters, who have not seen their father since they were 8 yrs old, and only ever received a card for Christmas from him, and not every Christmas.”

Haley’s Christmas is a great inspiration for the 2010 holiday season.

WAUWATOSA, Wis., April 9 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- A day that recognizes the beauty of bulldogs, despite their droopy looks, will challenge people as it conveys a message of acceptance, when bulldogs and their owners celebrate the second annual 'National Bulldogs Are Beautiful Day' on Saturday, April 26, 2008. 'I hope that with the help of these sweet bulldogs, people will take note of how they treat others they deem unattractive,' said Jackie Valent, author of the children's book, Stinky the Bulldog (ISBN 1420826972).

WAUWATOSA, Wis., April 9 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — A day that recognizes the beauty of bulldogs, despite their droopy looks, will challenge people as it conveys a message of acceptance, when bulldogs and their owners celebrate the second annual National Bulldogs Are Beautiful Day on Saturday, April 26, 2008 (bulldogsarebeautiful.com). “I hope that with the help of these sweet bulldogs, people will take note of how they treat others they deem unattractive,” said Jackie Valent, author of the children’s book, “Stinky the Bulldog” (ISBN 1420826972).

The Milwaukee and national signature event, which will take place at Central Bark; 5780 W. Hemlock; Milwaukee, Wis., 53223 from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m., is expected to attract about 50 bulldogs and their owners.

The event will feature snacks and mingling for pups and people, but different this year is a showcasing of regional agencies doing great work around diversity and acceptance issues. Even though bulldogs’ saggy skin makes them look to have perpetual frowns and their stout bodies connote sluggishness, bulldogs are affectionate animals that enjoy attention from humans, according to bulldog owner and the holiday’s host, author Jackie Valent of Wauwatosa, who is also a human resources executive at Deloitte, LLP.

“I hope that ‘National Bulldogs are Beautiful Day’ teaches us to embrace differences in people; if people see beyond the looks and aggressive ancestry of a bulldog, they can certainly look within and challenge themselves to accept their neighbors of a different race, gender, appearance, lifestyle, physical ability, national origin or religion.

“In today’s global community, we are valuable as a cohesive civilization rather than as segmented populations.” Valent knows that changing people’s prejudices is a large order, but with her success as a human resources specialist who works passionately with diversity issues, and each time someone hides their face in shame after hearing that Stinky is her bulldog’s name of affection, not cruelty, she believes that it can be done.

Host your own National Bulldogs are Beautiful Day celebration and show people that there is beauty in all beings!

The story of Stinky the Bulldog
A loveable bulldog in a new neighborhood, Stinky is eager to make friends, but is quickly disappointed when kids crinkle their noses and run away; they don’t even know him! Packed with vibrant illustrations, “Stinky the Bulldog” (ISBN-13: 978-1420826975, AuthorHouse) is a touching story that teaches the value of people’s differences, and the wonders of true friendship.

“If we cherish our differences and learn to cooperate and reason with one another, our world will be a more profitable and peaceful place,” Valent said. “It’s a grande effort, but one that we can learn from our bulldog partners.”
