Nathan Sanow, Business Development Manager at MasterCare, and Erica Drake, Marketing Specialist at the firm, accompanied tour spokesperson and elder care expert Dr. Marion Somers (“Dr. Marion”) as she addressed the need for long term care planning in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Marion started her visit at local hot-spot Voodoo Doughnuts, where she was presented with a custom-made 3in4 Need More doughnut. The establishment also unveiled a ‘Guitar Rocking Granny’ doughnut to commemorate Portland’s participation in the nationwide Bring Your Talent contest, which is co-sponsored by Emeritus Senior Living and the 3in4 Need More campaign. The grand prize winner will receive a year’s free rent at an Emeritus Senior Living community. The local leg of the competition took place at Emeritus Senior Living in southeast Portland, after a speech by Dr. Marion; she was also interviewed by Lars Larson on his KXL radio show at 101FM.

“In today’s busy world, it’s easy to push aside important issues such as long term care planning,” said Terry Truesdell, President and CEO of the National LTC Network. “Events like this help people pause and think about how they would handle a long term care need. It also encourages them to seriously consider long term care insurance as a solution for this risk. On behalf of all our colleagues at The Network, I congratulate Mike Skiens and MasterCare Solutions on a job well done in Portland.”

KIRKLAND, Wash., April 18, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- In a tight presidential race, voter sentiment on religion, race, jobs or contraception could tip the balance. Or 'the decisive issue just might be a health problem that jeopardizes almost every American family,' says Jonas Roeser, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Operations for LTC Financial Partners LLC (LTCFP), one of the nation's most experienced long-term care insurance agencies.

KIRKLAND, Wash., April 18, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — In a tight presidential race, voter sentiment on religion, race, jobs or contraception could tip the balance. Or “the decisive issue just might be a health problem that jeopardizes almost every American family,” says Jonas Roeser, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Operations for LTC Financial Partners LLC (LTCFP), one of the nation’s most experienced long-term care insurance agencies.

“Almost 3 in 4 people over 65 will need long-term care at some point, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,” he says. “But most don’t have a plan to pay for this care, meaning their close relatives could be hit hard in the pocketbook. That includes just about everybody.”

So far the candidates have been mute on the long-term care insurance (LTCI) issue, and it’s high time for them to speak out, according to Roeser. So, to gain attention, his organization launched a straw poll on March 26, 2012. It asked just one question:

* Which candidate (President Barack Obama or the Republican choice) is more likely to promote new federal incentives to help Americans afford private long-term care insurance?

About a third, 33 percent, picked President Obama, while two-thirds, 67 percent, picked the Republican candidate, whoever it might be. “If this reflects the feelings of the broad population,” says Roeser, “it could be a wake-up call for President Obama and his people. And it could be something the Republicans can make hay with.”

President Obama might have been seen as the champion of long-term care insurance, since his Affordable Care Act included a public option for LTCI, the CLASS Act. But in October, 2011, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that her department was halting implementation of CLASS since a way could not be found to make it self-sustaining. “Now we need to rely entirely on the private sector,” says Roeser, “but the government can still help by introducing new tax breaks or other incentives to make it easier for people to protect themselves.”

Both candidates have an equal opportunity to work with Congress to make it happen, Roeser asserts. “Both can and should state their intentions now and frequently during the campaign. Doing so can be good for the country, and who knows? It just might determine who makes it into the White House.”

The straw poll will be kept open right up until the presidential election on November 6, tracking change in voter sentiment. “It will be an interesting horse race,” says Roeser. “Will the Republican candidate stay way ahead, or will President Obama close the gap and maybe win by a nose?”

Votes may be cast at either of two locations: http://www.ltcfp.com/2012poll or http://ltcguild.ning.com/page/election-poll . After voting, the visitor may view the latest, updated percentages and find other information about the LTC issue.

The straw poll is supported by the Long Term Care Insurance Guild, the social network for LTCI and allied professionals.

LTCFP has more than 500 LTC specialists serving individuals and organizations in all parts of the nation. The company is a co-founder and sponsor of the “3 in 4 Need More” campaign, which seeks to alert Americans to the long-term healthcare crisis, and to multiply the number protected by long-term care planning.

CAMPBELL, Calif., April 12, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — GCA Equity Partners, LLC (www.gcaequitypartners.com) today announced that it has opened the GCA California Real Estate Fund, LLC – a new investment offering available to qualified California residents. The fund’s 8 percent preferred annual return rate and real-estate secured investment portfolio can help meet the retirement planning needs of those residents born between 1946 and 1964, collectively known as the “baby boom” generation.

Estimates based on recent census data show that there are more than ten million baby boomers in California, and more than a thousand turn 65 every single day. This group, currently aged from 48 to 66, faces a number of unique financial challenges as they attempt to plan for their retirement years.

These challenges include:
* Vanishing pensions as most companies have shifted away from defined-benefit plans;
* Stock market volatility causing people to delay or change their retirement plans;
* Underfunded Social Security program leaving future of high-income earners in doubt;
* Lack of sufficient retirement savings with many boomers planning to work into old age;
* Escalating college tuitions and “boomerang kids” straining family budgets.

The net result has been what the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) has termed the “Baby Boomer Retirement Crisis” in its “IRI Quick Facts” report published in February of 2012.

“The GCA California Real Estate Fund provides an alternative investment option designed to help baby boomers avoid the crisis and plan for a more secure retirement,” said Tom Braegelmann, CEO of GCA Equity Partners. “It features excellent targeted returns, the security of real-estate backed investing, and a straightforward and transparent investment model.”

This investment fund features a preferred return rate of 8 percent annually, with the potential for higher returns. Investors can place cash or money from self-directed IRAs into the fund and can choose to receive monthly income or reinvest returns for compounded growth.

KIRKLAND, Wash., Jan. 26, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Long-term care insurance is subsidized, in effect, by Uncle Sam.
If you don’t have LTC insurance, the time to get it is now, when the tax advantage is fresh in your mind, Gott advises. “Then remember to make your claim at tax time next year, and remember to do that again and again, year after year for as long as you pay premiums.”

Deduction limits for the 2011 tax year range from $340 to $4,240, depending on age. For the 2012 tax year, the deduction limits range from $350 to $4,370; and they tend to increase every year. “Over the lifetime of many policies, cumulative deduction claims can really mount up, from a few thousand to more than $100,000 in some cases,” Gott says.

Many states offer additional incentives for owning long-term care insurance. These usually take the form of state tax deductions or rebates. “LTC protection becomes even more of bargain with this nice double dip,” says Gott.

LTCFP does not offer tax advice but teams with accountants and other tax experts to help their clients get all the deductions or other benefits available to them.

KIRKLAND, Wash., Dec. 15, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or another end-of-year holiday, long-term care insurance just might be the best present you could possibly give. “That may sound crazy,” says Denise Gott, National Sales Manager and Chairman of the Board of LTC Financial Partners, LLC (LTCFP).

“But think about it. The whole point of a present is to please someone you love and improve their lives. What can do that better than financial protection ensuring one’s whole future?”

Gott’s company has developed a list of the top ten reasons long-term care insurance (LTCI) should be on everyone’s gift list:

1. If you get it for your spouse and yourself, you’ll both breathe easier, knowing you can afford professional care in the comfort of your own home, should the need ever arise.

2. You’ll also enjoy the gift of knowing you’re protecting your assets and lifestyle for years to come.

3. If you get it for your parents, they’ll relax and get more enjoyment out of their golden years, confident they can avoid senior poverty.

4. The gift to your parents may also be a gift to yourself, since LTCI protects assets earmarked for inheritance.

5. Compared to pricey items, LTCI is often a bargain, costing much less than you’d pay per month for a new car or health insurance.

6. If you get it for your children, it can REALLY be a bargain, costing a fraction of what many people spend per year on coffee at Starbucks.

7. As a gift to your children, it will “keep on giving” year after year, making them feel more secure for decades, maybe 100 years or more.

8. It can help you afford other holiday gifts in future years. Without it, out-of-pocket care costs could eat up your savings. How generous a Santa could you be then?

9. Peace of mind is one of the best gifts of all. If you’ve been putting off looking into long-term care insurance, you may feel anxious and guilty. Why not give yourself a break for the holidays?

10. LTCI is tax-deductible. You can use the “savings” to buy other gifts of many kinds, year after year!

LTC Financial Partners is one of the nation’s largest and most experienced agencies specializing in long-term care insurance. More information is available at http://www.ltcfp.com .

MOUNTAIN LAKES, N.J., Dec. 14, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Today the EraNova Institute announces the publication of a special report, Avoiding the Long-Term Care Wipeout by Riding the Life-Extension Wave. “It offers a win-win-win strategy that can enrich three constituencies while helping America thrive again,” says Richard W. Samson, Director of EraNova and author of the report.

The constituencies are aging Americans, government, and the long-term care industry. “All three face missing the wave of the future, if not wiping out, unless something is done about long-term health,” he says. “Health care isn’t the real issue. Neither is long-term care. Americans are living longer but with long periods of unaffordable illness and disability. The real issue is real health, real wellness, real vitality past 65.” It’s not enough to pay for care, even if the money were available, he maintains. “America just can’t surge again unless we start living stronger, longer.”

The good news is that robust long-term health may be a mounting possibility that’s about to crest for those positioned to catch it. The report documents a rising tide of life-extension options including wellness technology and prevention strategies.

It also outlines awareness initiatives and financial incentives for long-term health, including:

* Long-term care insurance programs that actively promote wellness,

* Alignment of corporate wellness programs with long-term healthcare education,

* Wide-ranging tax deductions that encourage prevention, and

* Other steps including agricultural, infrastructure, consumer-product, and media innovations that incorporate long-term health into daily living.

“If aging Americans, Washington, and the long-term care industry pay attention and catch the wave, it can carry millions to robust living beyond 80, new productivity, new wealth, and an unprecedented quality of life.”

The report, published by EraNova, is available now only to members of the Long-Term Care Insurance Guild ( www.ltcguild.com ), a social network and association for LTC and allied-industry professionals. On December 19, the report is scheduled to appear as an article in National Underwriter Life & Health, a news source for the life, health and financial services industries. The article will also appear on the magazine’s website, http://www.LifeHealthPro.com .

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 22, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — At least one in nine seniors is at-risk of going hungry due to the inability to obtain sufficient food for their household or having to choose between food and medical care (*note 1). During the Holidays, Comfort Keepers® in South Bay and Peninsula is asking the community to make food donations to the “STOP Senior Hunger” food drive to help local seniors and raise awareness for this growing epidemic that impacts millions of older Americans trying to remain healthy and independent.

“Many seniors go hungry all year,” said Alina Baktashian, Client Services Director, of the South Bay and Peninsula franchise. “We cannot fight every factor affecting hunger, but we can start here in our community by creating awareness about the issue and helping family members become more aware of the signs of hunger and malnutrition.”

Hunger can lead to malnutrition and other serious health problems in seniors. In fact, it is estimated that as many as 85% of seniors in the care of others are at risk for malnutrition or under-nutrition. Malnutrition is the result of the body not absorbing enough nutrients due to inaccessibility. Signs of malnutrition may include sudden weight gain or loss, bruising, or dental difficulties, sudden changes in taste, or a general disinterest in eating.

For seniors, malnutrition means the potential for increased hospital stays, increased health complications, early entry into assisted living facilities and premature death.

In response to a growing need for awareness about senior hunger, the Comfort Keepers system has launched a nationwide campaign called “STOP Senior Hunger” to create awareness for the importance of a healthy diet for those 65 and over. This senior nutrition campaign aims to help seniors preserve their independence by providing diet and nutrition information, encouragement and necessities.

KIRKLAND, Wash., Nov. 17, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Today the American Senior Benefits Association (ASBA) announced the selection of LTC Financial Partners, LLC (LTCFP) to provide long-term care education and insurance for members and their families. The aim of the ASBA Long-Term Care Insurance Program is to supply education on the financial risks associated with long-term care and how a long-term care insurance policy can transfer these risks from a member’s assets to that of an insurance carrier.

LTC Financial Partners is one of the nation’s largest and most experienced long term care insurance agencies. “People need to learn why long-term care protection is important and what their options are,” says Cameron Truesdell, LTCFP’s CEO.

Aging baby boomers will significantly impact the potential demand for long-term care services in the decades ahead. According to research by Prudential Financial, over the next 20 years the number of Americans age 65 and older will more than double to 71 million, comprising roughly 20% of the U.S. population. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, about 70% of seniors over age 65 will need some type of long-term care. This year, that number is expected to be more than nine million Americans. By 2020, it could exceed 12 million, with nearly every American likely to have a family member or close relative who needs care at some point.

“We want to show ASBA members and their families how to plan and pay for long-term care affordably,” says Truesdell.

Bill Hill, Sr., ASBA President and Chairman of the Board, says, “We are excited about working with an industry leader like LTCFP. This partnership will enable us to offer members a customized long-term care insurance program with a focus on consumer education. We believe it’s the perfect complement to ASBA’s other solutions-based programs and services.”

With offices nationwide and nearly 550 experts available, LTC Financial Partners is breaking new ground in the long-term care field. “We’re using multiple, broad means to empower people,” says Truesdell. “We’re doing it in person through seminars and meetings; over the phone through individual counseling; via the Internet through text and video; and through publications and distribution of facts to the media. We are committed to helping people live life fully and completely with dignity, comfort and independence without financial burden.”

More information is available at http://www.ltcfp.com . LTCFP is a co-founder and sponsor of the “3 in 4 Need More” campaign, run by the 3in4 Association.

The American Senior Benefits Association (ASBA) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit association where membership is completely free. ASBA is committed to lifestyle enhancement through benefits, advocacy and education for the over-50 population. ASBA concentrates its efforts on the issues that are of greatest concern to its members. Through its partners and programs, ASBA members receive news and information, product and service discounts, as well as other benefits. Current ASBA membership stands at over 739,000 nationally.
