STURBRIDGE, Mass., May 17, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Remspec Corporation is pleased to announce that it has completed the technology transfer and an upgrade of the mid-IR optical fiber manufacturing process originally developed by Amorphous Materials Inc. of Garland, Texas. This means that in addition to meeting its own needs for high grade mid-IR (2 µm to 11 µm) fiber Remspec can now supply high quality low-cost fiber to meet the general needs of the optical device community.

The unique technology used in this process allows the production of high numerical aperture fiber in high volume at less than half the cost of competing technologies. The capacity of Remspec’s facility for 500/600 µm core/clad fiber is over 20 km per year with other sizes available to volume purchasers. This fiber, while not suitable for high power laser applications is, with its high numerical aperture (0.6), well suited for spectroscopy, pyrometry and other low power applications. Unclad fiber is also available and is suitable for distributed chemical sensors.

This development makes Remspec the only fully integrated producer of mid-IR fiber-optic spectroscopy systems. “Being in full control of the manufacturing process from drawing fiber to manufacturing the final system will enable industry leading quality and consistency in our products,” according to the company’s president.

As part of the transfer process Remspec has invested in equipment improvements that have led to better yields and product consistency.

About Remspec:
Remspec, with manufacturing located in Charlton, Massachusetts, was founded in 1993 to pioneer and develop the market for fiber-optic probes and chemical sensors that operate in the mid infrared or fingerprint region of the optical spectrum. Since then, Remspec has been the leader in development and manufacture of cables, spectroscopic probes, and integrated systems using mid-IR optical fiber. Products such as ReactionView® for real-time reaction monitoring, SpotView® for trace surface analysis and cleaning validation, ArtView™ for non-destructive analysis of paintings and museum objects, and TissueView™ for in-vivo evaluation of skin and other tissue, are all technology leaders in their fields.

ROCKLEDGE, Fla., Sept. 22, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — LRM Industries International, Inc., headquartered in Rockledge, Florida, is the Society of Plastics Engineers 2011 Parts Competition Winner in heavy gauge vacuum forming, as a Gold Medalist.

The winning part is ValuStair™, a 22 ft. by 4 ft. unitary thermoplastic staircase, produced using LRM’s unique patented STF Sheetless ThermoForming™ technology on a production line engineered and built by LRM in 2008.

This novel line produces very large thermoformed parts on 3 to 5 trolleys in a circular track architecture, coating molten polymer directly onto onboard traditional thermoforming molds. These trolleys are computer controlled, via wireless signal, and all elements required for part molding are onboard.

Pre-manufactured sheets are not required with the STF Sheetless ThermoForming™ process, allowing a significant savings in the production of large heavy-gauge parts, and very high productivity. STF is also capable of molding a reinforced composite material structure, providing unmatched strength and stiffness.

Bart Berghuis, a Vice President at LRM said, “I was thrilled to accept this prestigious award on behalf of our innovative and growing company. We’ve been developing STF since 2007 and expanding its part size capability to the current 14 ft. by 30 ft.”

As with all of LRM’s products, no VOCs are emitted during manufacturing and all trim is recycled back into the process on-site. LRM uses only thermoplastic resins for closed-loop recycling.

About LRM Industries:
LRM Industries International, Inc. was established to commercialize TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming™ technology, a radically different and award-winning process technology for producing large, feature-rich, long-fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite parts in one fully automated operation.

BRIDGEPORT, N.J., Dec. 13 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Value Recovery, Inc. announced today that Guadalupe Cooling of Nipomo, CA has obtained a license to use Value Recovery’s methyl bromide emissions control technology for its new Quarantine and Pre-shipment fumigation operation. The facility will be constructed by Controlled Environments Construction of Tustin, CA who are major US building contractors in the agricultural sector.

Value Recovery has developed and patented a technology for the environmentally friendly chemical destruction of methyl bromide after fumigations. Value Recovery’s methyl bromide emissions control technology works by forcing the air stream containing methyl bromide into an aqueous thiosulfate solution prior to releasing the air into the atmosphere. This “chemical scrubbing” method not only protects the ozone layer in the upper atmosphere but also protects workers and bystanders.

The technology is comprehensive, chemically destroying over 90% of the methyl bromide released from a fumigation facility while producing no hazardous byproducts. The company plans to raise the destruction level to 95% within three years.

Value Recovery’s technology has been granted the status of Best Available Control Technology (BACT) and is becoming recognized as the most economic and environmentally acceptable method for the continued use of methyl bromide.

Current Quarantine and Pre-shipment operations in ports around the US vent hundreds of thousands of pounds of methyl bromide directly into the atmosphere without any emissions controls. Under the US Clean Air Act, new sources of methyl bromide and other hazardous pollutants must evaluate emissions control technology before they can operate. Value Recovery believes that its technology will become the de-facto standard for methyl bromide emissions control.

Peter J. Joyce, President of Value Recovery says; “Up until the 1970′s the chemical industry vented its pollutants directly into the atmosphere and up until the 1990′s the same can be said for the automobile industry. We look at the introduction of this technology as a natural progression that will be used by those forward thinking agricultural companies who are truly dedicated to lessening their environmental footprint.”

About Value Recovery:
Value Recovery is an environmental research company focused on removing and destroying hazardous chemicals with its patented reactive separations technology. Besides destroying fumigants, the company has technology for destroying water soluble pollutants such as phenols, cyanides and acrylates. The company was founded in May, 2000.

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — LRM Industries International, Inc. headquartered in Rockledge, Florida, announces the introduction of the HydroDome(TM) 610 composite stormwater chamber. The HydroDome design concept, introduced in 2009, comes from both the efficiency of nature and the ageless understanding by architectural engineers, that the dome is stronger than an arch or vaulted tunnel.

The HydroDome(TM) project at LRM was initially code-named “Beehive” with a goal of achieving extremely high space utilization efficiency, with high strength, while using environmentally responsible recyclable materials and processes. This morphed into a domed cell structure to retain the natural field “nesting” efficiency, while adding incredible strength.

The new HydroDome(TM) 610 is an extension of the original design, adding storage capacity and maximizing strength through the expanding capability of LRM’s STF Sheetless ThermoForming(TM) technology for the production of large reinforced composite thermoformed products.

Said Jim Callough, CEO of LRM Industries International, Inc., “The unique HydroDome design allows for a side-to-side nested installation, using less excavation, stone, and land area. This space efficiency combined with the HydroDome 610′s 81.9 cubic feet of capacity make it a high performance, cost effective stormwater solution. As with all of our products, no VOCs are emitted during its manufacture and all trim is recycled back into the process on-site.”

LRM Industries will exhibit HydroDome(TM) at StormCon(R) 2010 in San Antonio in booth #925-927.

Company Information:

LRM Industries International, Inc. was established to commercialize TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming(TM) technology, a radically different and award-winning process technology for producing large, feature-rich, long-fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite parts in one fully automated molding operation. With the TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming(TM) and the new STF Sheetless ThermoForming(TM) technologies, LRM enables innovative applications and designs in the use of plastics and thermoplastic composites to produce very large unitary structures where, to-date, it has been viewed as cost prohibitive or lacking in strength and structural integrity.

HOUSTON, Texas (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Ask anyone who works on the production side of the oil business and they will tell you the key to success in the oil industry is extracting, producing and transporting, states DuraSeal representative Ken Sachs. The quicker and more cost effective it is the better. They will also tell you that while production costs can be controlled, well flow rates are often at the mercy of corrosion and pipe wear. A new product called DuralSil, made by DuraSeal, an Olathe, Kansas based company, improves production, reduces pipe replacement and increases the bottom line for any industry using metal pipes.

DuraSil penetrates and lubricates the surface of metal and has all the benefits of untreated metal pipes without a mechanical depletion curve and corrosion (which inevitably leads to restricted flow). A DuraSil pipe doesn’t flake off. It wears slower, flows better and lasts longer. And, the price point is similar to that of treated pipe.

This is less than half the price of a chrome pipe. So, buyers can expect to get all the benefits of a more effectively treated pipe that lasts longer and flows better, for half the price. The results are lower costing pipes, less corrosion, less wear, better flow rates, longer lasting and a better bottom line.

Best of all, DuraSil is environmentally friendly since there is no risk from nano-particles entering the air, depositing in the ground or washing away though the pipe.

“Traditionally lined pipe is significantly prone to failure,” states Ken Sachs. “Many operators are needlessly spending extra money for lined pipe which provides limited protection against corrosion.”

“The effectiveness of DuraSil,” Sachs goes on to say, “has been proven time and again in oil field test applications throughout the United States.”

DuraSil treated pipe is also resistant to a number of common industry environmental hazards including weather, ultraviolet radiation, salt water and 33 percent hydrofluoric acid. It also is perfect for use in high-heat applications. In fact, DuraSil treated pipe has stood up to the harshest environments with no signs of corrosion.

Sachs adds, “A DuraSeal pipe is a better investment and offers better protection than the more expensive lined pipe.”

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — LRM Industries International, Inc. headquartered in Rockledge, Florida, announces the introduction of the game-changing HydroDome™ family of stormwater chambers. LRM will show HydroDome for first time from August 18th through the 20th at StormCon®, the annual stormwater conference to be held this year at the Marriott in Anaheim, California.

The HydroDome™ design concept comes from both the efficiency of nature and the ageless understanding by architectural engineers, that the dome is stronger than an arch or vaulted tunnel. The HydroDome project at LRM was initially code-named “Beehive” with a goal of achieving extremely high space utilization efficiency, with high strength. This morphed into a domed cell structure to retain the natural field “nesting” efficiency, while adding incredible strength.

The HydroDome family of products will be reinforced thermoplastic composite structures, not simple thermoformed or injection molded thermoplastics, or high VOC non-recyclable thermosets, which are dangerous to our environment.

Said Jim Callough, CEO of LRM Industries International, Inc., “With LRM’s patent pending STF Sheetless ThermoForming process, announced in October 2008, an incredible amount of options are enabled which did not exist before. We don’t have to buy sheet, as we ‘coat’ the mold directly from extrusion. This opens a whole new world of versatility, and we can have closed loop recycling by reprocessing all trim in-house.”

Callough added, “All HydroDome family products will have this same domed cellular (beehive) design. This allows a highly efficient ‘nested’ installation, dramatically reducing land utilization and all associated costs such as excavation, stone and other materials.”

At StormCon® in booth #912, LRM will exhibit the HydroDome™ 550 as the first product in the new family of stormwater structural BMPs.

Company Information

LRM Industries International, Inc. was established to commercialize TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming™ technology, a radically different and award-winning process technology for producing large, feature-rich, long-fiber reinforced thermoplastic composite parts in one fully automated molding operation.

ROCKLEDGE, Fla. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — LRM Industries International, Inc., headquartered in Rockledge, Florida, announces the invention of TSD Twin Sheet Direct™; a new innovative production process, extending the product value of its patent-pending STF Sheetless ThermoForming™ technology, which was invented and commercialized by LRM in 2007.

TSD Twin Sheet Direct™ thermoforming uses existing traditional twin sheet thermoforming molds to produce very large dual-layer structural or hollow thermoformed products in a totally automated process. There is one major process difference from existing twin sheet thermoforming: no pre-manufactured thermoplastic sheet is required. The molds are “coated” with molten thermoplastic material directly from extrusion in a profiled lay-down, and then joined to form the product. This means that no ovens are needed, and the process of stretching “softened” thermoplastic sheets inducing stress and thickness non-uniformity is eliminated.

According to Dr. Dale E. Polk, LRM’s Chief Technology Officer, “When we developed STF Sheetless ThermoForming™ two years ago, we were surprised to learn that no one had achieved thermoforming using molten plastic from extrusion. This new TSD Twin Sheet Direct™ thermoforming is a logical extension of STF and adds a whole new dimension of product possibilities to our innovative new STF Line.”

A wide range of thermoplastic polymers can be used to produce products with TSD Twin Sheet Direct™, and, of course, the process allows on-site, closed loop recycling capability.
