DALLAS, Texas, May 7, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Cogent Technology Group, Inc. announced today that the Commercial Services Division of Green Mountain Energy Company has expanded their use of Cogent’s Sales Commission Manager (SCM) software product to provide a means of managing the residual sales commissions that flow as ongoing streams of compensation to their independent brokers and sales agents for completed energy-service contracts. Cogent’s SCM software will be used by Green Mountain’s Commercial Services Division in Texas, New York and other markets as Green Mountain expands into them.

Green Mountain is a pioneer in the renewable energy space, operating as the nation’s longest serving provider of green power and the first retail electric provider in Texas to offer renewable energy. The company’s Commercial Services Division wanted a turn-key approach to accurately calculating and recording commission amounts that are payable to their brokers and sales agents and are based on the customer’s energy usage over time. With Cogent’s SCM software running on their internal network, Green Mountain expects to proactively manage the variability of the commission compensation function.

Cogent’s SCM solution is available both as a leased product and as a software service which is hosted in their Atlanta data center. The full-featured SCM product, which offers a wide range of capabilities and an easy-to-use interface, bolts onto the energy marketer’s CIS/Billing data source and calculates commissions as the underlying energy-usage changes. SCM manages the commission function regardless of the frequency of commissioning events or the complexity of the commission methods.

“We find Cogent’s Sales Commission Manager to be a flexible, cost-effective and robust solution that can accommodate our many needs and we look forward to continued utilization of the system as our company expands into new markets.” said Les Montgomery, Vice President of Retail Energy Operations for the Commercial Services Division of Green Mountain Energy Company.

About Cogent Technology Group:
Cogent Technology Group specializes in custom software and software consulting services for market participants operating in the deregulated energy industry. Cogent’s software professionals have the experience needed to help energy marketers and wholesalers navigate the challenges of the industry by providing cost-effective solutions that reduce operating expenses and increase organizational efficiency.

In addition to Sales Commission Manager, Cogent currently offers an Energy Marketer Data Reconciliation System software product for validating ERCOT SCR727 settlement data against billing data; a Data Flow Manager software product for managing the download of B2B data; and their SalesScape Sales Automation component suite for automating the pricing of sales quotes and the creation of retail energy service contracts.
DALLAS, Texas, May 2, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Orange Leap (www.orangeleap.com), developer of cloud-based fundraising and constituent relationship management (CRM) software, today announced the hiring of Kent Hollrah to serve as company President.

DALLAS, Texas, May 2, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Orange Leap (www.orangeleap.com), developer of cloud-based fundraising and constituent relationship management (CRM) software, today announced the hiring of Kent Hollrah to serve as company President.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kent to the Orange Leap team because of his proven success in building channel-oriented software companies,” said Orange Leap CEO Randy McCabe. “Orange Leap and our customers will benefit from his strong understanding of the nonprofit sector and his experience growing software companies.”

With over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit and accounting technology market space, Hollrah managed and developed channel programs at Open Systems and MIP, and served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Sage Nonprofit division in North America.

“Orange Leap has an excellent cloud-based constituent relationship management product for nonprofit fundraisers,” said Hollrah. “So far, the product and the company have only been limited by how quickly a direct sales force can sell and an internal services group can setup and train new customers; but by developing a channel of solution providers, Orange Leap can focus on developing new versions of the solution, providing customers with tools they need to achieve their mission, while channel partners handle the sales, system setup, and training.”

Hollrah will be the chief architect of the Orange Leap partner program, which will include recruitment, authorized reseller agreements, marketing on behalf of partners and a “Partner Bill of Rights” which outlines the Orange Leap commitment to an outstanding partner experience.

“Just as we are committed to an outstanding customer experience, as we launch our channel we want to ensure that the program inspires enthusiasm and attracts expert, dynamic partners,” said McCabe. “Kent brings the level of experience and expertise necessary to create such partnerships.”

About Orange Leap:
Orange Leap helps nonprofits raise more money with fewer resources by streamlining the fundraising process with innovative technology solutions and collaborative support. A cloud-based, Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) technology solutions company, Orange Leap effectively manages donor and constituent relationships; processes donations and tracks gift history; and automates fundraising and marketing communications. Based in Dallas, Texas, the company works closely with nonprofits that are focused on reaching and engaging a wide range of missions and constituencies.

* Clearvoyant is up to 75 percent more energy-efficient than standard T8 lighting.
* Fits Any Hill PHOENIX Shelf (Traditional and New).

TACPA presents courses targeted at the needs of the independent practitioner and small-practice CPA.

The conference is designed to provide CPAs, particularly independent or small-office practitioners, the opportunity to accumulate credits towards their annual CPE requirements as well as offer a forum to network with other CPA professionals and share ideas, experiences and best practices.

“These days, many CPAs are completing their CPE requirements online. While that’s a perfectly viable strategy, there still is a need for a place where you can meet with your peers from time to time. When you work independently, it’s awfully nice to be able to occasionally share ideas, thoughts, and experiences face to face,” said Dave Brown, Executive Director of the TACPA.

The 2012 Spring Meeting marks our third quarterly meeting of the fiscal year and will be held May 18 and 19 at:
The Doubletree Hotel – San Antonio Airport
37 NE Loop 410 (@ McCullough)
San Antonio, TX 78216.

Those interested in attending may register at http://conta.cc/SpringCPE .

TACPA will be holding its Annual Meeting and elections in Houston, Texas in August and will host a Fall meeting in Dallas in November. Information on future meetings can be found at the TACPA website: http://tacpa.net .

About TACPA:
The Texas Association of Certified Public Accountants was founded in 2001 to provide a voice to the independent practitioner and small-practice CPA. TACPA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to representing the interests of the small office CPA in Texas.

A local celebration will be held on Saturday, March 3: “Beauty Inside Out Fierce You” is an event for professional and entrepreneurial women to attend, be empowered, gain personal and business insight through educational seminars, have fun with fashion and build their business networks.

During an equally powerful after-event workshop on Saturday March 3 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dallas, author and former Texas child bride Dr. Trevicia Williams will extend education and empowerment to mothers and teen daughters while addressing the alarming statistic that Dallas Texas is #1 in the nation for repeat teen pregnancies.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancies teen pregnancies in the U.S. is declining; however, Texas is still number 3 in the nation for teen births.

In the spirit of prevention and healthy relationships, Dr. Trevicia Williams designed the free “Real Beauty Inside Out” workshop for mothers and teen daughters to communicate, connect, build, bond and grow as a result of the interactive intervention.

“Getting through the ‘I Love You But I Can’t Stand You Right Now’ time in the relationship can be tough,” says Dr. Trevicia Williams. Mothers and teen daughters will learn tools for effective communication and the fundamentals of building healthy relationships.

The workshop will also empower mothers and teen daughters during the sometimes stressful and rebellious teen years, says Dr. Trevicia Williams. This limited seating free workshop draws participants from the Dallas, Highland Park and Frisco Independent School Districts.

“Communication is the lifeline of all relationships and this workshop helps mothers and daughters open up,” says Dr. Trevicia Williams.

Psychologist, talk show host and author of child bride memoir, “There Are Pearls In The Pain of Every Experience” (ISBN: 978-0974351988), Dr. Trevicia Williams ( http://www.treviciawilliams.com ), is on a mission to empower girls and women worldwide. From Texas child bride and teen mother to life strategist, Dr. Trevicia shares hard-earned wisdom and real-life strategies that inspire teens and motivate parents to unleash their power to communicate, realize their self-worth, build healthier relationships and realize their fullest potentials.

Dr. Trevicia Williams echoes Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil and Dr. Drew in questioning the effectiveness of reality shows like Teen Mom and MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. The shows focus on the realities of teens during adolescent years and the pains of growing up while being pregnant, but, simultaneously, seem to glamourize teen pregnancy.

“Leah Messer and Chelsea Houska teen mom reality stories can be prevented: Teens should stay teen. We should encourage children to be children, girls to be girls and boys to be boys, while they are children,” says Williams.

DALLAS, Texas, Jan. 4, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Girls Incorporated of Metropolitan Dallas will hold its third lecture, “What is a Girly-Girl?,” in its 2011-2012 series on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. in partnership with The Dallas Institute for Humanities and Culture.

Author Peggy Orenstein will discuss today’s “girly-girl” culture that influences them from infancy onward: from princesses with pink gowns to spa birthday parties for six-year-olds, to Miley Cyrus to how thirteen-year-olds present themselves on Facebook, it tells a girl that how she looks matters more than who she is.

“We’re seeing a ‘Kardashianization’ of girlhood,” says Orenstein, whose examination of the lives of young women began in 1994 with her classic book “Schoolgirls.” “It’s a worrisome trend for those who want daughters to thrive and become confident, happy women. Formerly neutral toys have become gendered, narrowing a girl’s idea about her sexuality, future relationships and academic and professional potential. Girls are being encouraged to embrace this materialistic, image-saturated femininity through an unprecedented amount of marketing targeted at ever-younger ages.”

Writer and speaker Peggy Orenstein is author of “Cinderella Ate My Daughter: Dispatches from the Front Lines of the New Girlie-Girl Culture” and other books. She is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and many other publications.

This lecture is the third in the series, “What is a Girl?,” which takes a critical look at how girls have been envisioned from ancient mythology to today’s popular culture and tomorrow’s leadership in science and technology.

“We could not have picked a better partner than The Dallas Institute for Humanities and Culture,” says Girls Inc. CEO Lori Palmer. “The theme, ‘What is a girl?’ has proven to be as complex and provocative a subject as it is a captivating one.”

As with all the lectures in this series, Orenstein will present and then lead a discussion with audience members after a reception with wine, cheese, fruit and coffee at 6:00 p.m. The lecture takes place on Wednesday, February 1, at 6:30 p.m. at The Dallas Institute for Humanities and Culture located at 2719 Routh Street, Dallas. Admission is $25.

Register online for “What Is a Girly-Girl?” at GirlsIncDallas.org/LectureSeries or by contacting Lisa Rossi at lrossi@girlsincdallas.org or 214.654.4553. Seating is limited to 100. Sponsors include the Dallas Business Journal, WRR Classical 101, Kroger, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts of Dallas and Texas Instruments.

The remaining lecture events are as follows:

Wednesday, April 4, 2012, “What is a STEM Girl? Girls in Science, Engineering, Math and Technology.”

The concluding lecture of the series will consider the feminine role in scientific and theoretical fields, most if not all of which have traditionally been associated with men. How did such a tradition develop? In what ways is it changing? And what does the future hold for girls who are drawn to these professions?

He stated: “Every day, mentors help young Americans face the challenges of growing into adulthood. By setting a positive example and sharing their time, knowledge, and experience, mentors play an essential role in preparing our Nation’s youth for a bright future.” Themed “Invest in the Future: Mentor a Child,” January 2012 marks the eleventh annual National Mentoring Month, a time each year when the President spotlights the importance of mentors and the need for every child to have the guidance of a caring adult.

Without positive role models, teen girls often face a “crisis of confidence” and are especially vulnerable to risky behavior and making bad choices with devastating lifelong consequences. With this in mind and focused on empowering all girls and young women, ages six to 18, Girls Incorporated of Metropolitan Dallas is launching a new mentoring program that helps adult women connect with girls and provide them with ongoing support and encouragement.

“There are no special skills required to take advantage of the opportunity to mentor, only the willingness to help,” said Leanne Hall, Volunteer Resource Director at Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas. “Mentors must pass a background check, be at least 21 years old and be dependable and consistent meeting time commitments of five hours per month. Selected women are carefully screened and then matched with our girls. The mentors will have the opportunity to encourage and support young girls through helping with homework, test preparation and providing guidance and friendship.”

Sign up Now!
Mentor training kicks off on January 17, 2012. To participate in the program, or to learn more about this or other volunteer opportunities, please contact Leanne Hall at 214-654-4506 or lhall@girlsincdallas.org .

Bianca is one of 12 recipients nationwide of the Champions of Change honor for being leaders in the effort to recruit and retain girls and women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.

As a part of the Champions of Change program, Bianca will take part in a special discussion on this issue at the White House on Friday, December 9. The discussion will be streamed live at www.whitehouse.gov/live at 3:30 p.m. EST. More about Champions of Change, including photos and blogs, will be available www.whitehouse.gov/champions .

Bianca attended Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas afterschool programs for nine years, and credits her hands-on STEM experiences and exposure to women scientist mentors as a key factor in selecting a STEM path of study and career. Bianca is currently pursuing a degree in chemical engineering at Howard University, set to graduate in May 2012. There she is the campus President of Engineers Without Borders, doing volunteer work in Kenya, Brazil and Haiti. She also mentors girls at Girls Inc. of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area.

“We are incredibly proud of Bianca,” said Girls Inc. President and CEO Judy Vredenburgh. “Bianca is a role model who has broken barriers and inspires other girls to do the same with her success. She truly embodies our mission of strong, smart, and bold.”

“As a young girl, raised in a single-parent home by my father, Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas was truly a support system for 9 years of my life,” said Bianca. “The female staff and volunteers would welcome me every day after school and would tell me that the sky is the limit. They taught me that I could be and do anything I wanted, regardless of my circumstances. For me and my sister Ski Bailey, now a junior at Grambling State University, Girls Inc. was an outlet to freely express ourselves. Girls Inc. exposed us to many careers such as engineering, law, entrepreneurship, and art. This limitless exposure and strong, smart, and bold mindset Girls Inc. instilled in us, encouraged me to choose the non-traditional profession in chemical engineering. Girls Inc. is a program that really listens to girls and consistently inspires them to want to become more than what they thought they would be, in all areas of their lives. Now, I am a graduating senior at Howard University in Washington, DC. Upon receiving my Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, if accepted, I will pursue a Ph.D. at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Environmental Engineering with a focus on international development.”

DALLAS, Texas, Oct. 31, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Radio personality, best-selling author, filmmaker, and leader of the successful civil rights march in Jena, LA, Michael Baisden not only talks the talk afternoons on his nationally syndicated “Michael Baisden Show,” he also walks the walk. Baisden recently announced his plans to give away a half-million dollars to small businesses and nonprofits via a “Million Dollar Business Pitch” campaign. Listeners must tune into the radio show, Twitter, or FaceBook on November 28th for submission details.

“It’s time for those of us who have done well because of the people, to give back to the people,” expresses Baisden. “I understand that I can’t save the world, but I can reach back and help as many people as I can and hopefully inspire others to do the same! It’s time to pay it forward in a big way!”

From author to radio personality, to filmmaker and now social and political activist, Michael Baisden is committed to advancing the global community to a better place. Baisden’s contribution for the campaign is not from corporate sponsors, but is coming directly from his wallet. “While I welcome corporations and others to support us, I can’t wait for their budget cycles to make a decision,” he cites.

Over the past eight years, the outspoken and sometimes controversial radio pioneer has advocated for civil rights issues, campaigned for voter registration, supported free health clinics, and promoted mentoring with a 70-city bus tour. Most recently Baisden took his microphone to Occupy Wall Street in New York, engaging his listeners up close and personal with protesters from the site.

“As President Obama said, we can’t wait fourteen months; some of my listeners won’t survive another fourteen weeks. We have to do something now!”

In addition to his Million Dollar Business Pitch campaign, he continues to break boundaries with the release of his new e-novel entitled, “Never Satisfied: Do Men Know What The Want?” on Baisden Publishing and his new film “Do Women Know What They Want?” on TimeLife slated for release later this year.

To get more information on how to win a share of his Million Dollar Business Pitch, follow the show on Facebook (Baisdenlive) and Twitter (@BaisdenLive). Submission details will be announced live on The Michael Baisden Show on November 28th. Log onto www.Baisdenlive.com or download the TuneIn radio app and search Michael Baisden show.

Baisden, a TV talk show host, and a New York Times best-selling author, has been recognized as one of the most influential men in radio. The Michael Baisden Show is an entertaining four-hour afternoon drive radio program airing Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. ET and combines the best in music, comedy and social commentary to inspire real change across America. The show reaches more than seven million listeners each week and is syndicated by Cumulus Media Networks.
