LONG BEACH, Calif., Jan. 13, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Since 1974, Dr. Marc Spitz of the Foot Pain Center has been helping patients to beat peripheral neuropathy. After observing epidemic numbers of people developing peripheral neuropathy in their feet, he decided to make this his practice’s focus.

In the United States, alone, more than 20 million people suffer with neuropathy, according to the National Peripheral Neuropathy Institute.

“And, while there is no hard and fast cure for peripheral neuropathy, there are ways to help people treat the symptoms and to improve their overall functionality,” says Dr. Spitz. “Our goal is to ease discomfort, restore sensation and to slow down the progression of the condition.”

So, what is peripheral neuropathy? It is a condition caused by damage to the nerves, resulting in foot pain, numbness, tingling and burning. There are more than 40 causes of peripheral neuropathy including nutritional imbalances; diabetes; spinal problems; adverse reaction to medications; exposure to toxins; and more.

In addition to working with peripheral neuropathy patients, Dr. Spitz also offers a wide array of products to help the condition such as nutritional supplements; orthotics; shoes; massagers; warming lotions; and more.

“I’m very fortunate to have had the opportunity to treat so many patients over the years,” says Dr. Spitz. “It has been particularly rewarding to have provided a measure of relief and comfort to my patients. I am looking forward to several more years in practice and will continue to work on new, natural treatments and product offerings for peripheral neuropathy.”

About Dr. Marc Spitz:
Dr. Spitz is a nationally-renowned podiatrist and a leading podiatrist in Southern California. He has a degree in podiatric medicine and completed his residency in Long Beach, California. He is the co-author of “The Numb Foot Book” (ISBN: 978-0978182052), a guide to the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral neuropathy and a frequent lecturer at UCLA and at the University of California at Irvine. Currently, Dr. Spitz is the leader of the Neuropathy Support Group in Orange County, CA and is a member of the American Academy of Pain Management.

Walter hobnobbed with Hollywood royalty, and ditched his wife to marry his young “ward” Aloha, now the center of international intrigue.

This December 5th marks the 79th Anniversary of California’s most renowned cold case: The Wanderwell Murder.

A former seafarer, world class hiker and traveler who had been briefly jailed in the U.S. as a spy during the war, Wanderwell began his international expeditions in 1919 as an effort to promote world peace and the League of Nations. Founding an organization he called the Work Around the World Educational Club (WAWEC), Wanderwell lured young men and women with the promise of romantic adventure. One such conscripted youth, Aloha, captured the married Wanderwell’s attention and soon became the second Mrs. Wanderwell.

When not cavorting with stars such as Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, the Wanderwells toured Africa, India and war-swept Europe, gaining notoriety and even numbering a British Lord among their crew. Lord Edward Eugene Fernando Montagu, son of His Grace the Duke of Manchester, was aboard the Wanderwell’s yacht, The Carma, in the Long Beach harbor the night Walter Wanderwell was shot.

But Aloha was not on board. Heralded as the first woman to drive an automobile around the world, the beautiful widows’ whereabouts sparked a media frenzy amid rumors of espionage, fraud, and sex that rivals any contemporary scandal. With headline coverage in The NY Times, Detroit Times, LA Times, and the Long Beach Press Telegram, the 1932 murder of Walter Wanderwell remains one of the greatest unsolved murder cases of the 21th Century.

About AlohaWanderwell.com:

http://AlohaWanderwell.com is an online archive, dedicated to promoting the story of exploring pioneer, Aloha Wanderwell, and preserving the historic Wanderwell Expedition’s Nitrate Films, photographs, collectibles, and documents of all their Expeditions.

As the first woman to drive around the world and the first woman to fly Brazil’s Mato Grosso, Aloha Wanderwell captured the world’s attention with her beauty, her bravery, and her extraordinary kindness. Her film, “FLIGHT TO THE STONE AGE BOROROS,” was the earliest filmed record of the Bororo tribe and stands today as an important anthropological resource within the Smithsonian Institute’s Human Studies Archive.

Established in 2010, Aloha all so has to her list of films “Car and Camera around the World” taken during their travels.

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Sept. 11, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — There were shouts of joy from little girls and strong applause from the adults as Sandra Piller and The Wild Cards (www.sandrapiller.com) performed their three-set gig in Shoreline Village at Rainbow Harbor near the Queen Mary in Southern California. As part of the weekend festivities at the popular seaside attraction, Piller performed hit songs from her latest album, “Days Like These,” as well as several hit songs from such artists as Fleetwood Mac and Linda Ronstadt.

Piller’s “Days Like These” album is her third collection of what some are calling new country classic music. Working with some of Nashville’s most-respected writers, the songs delve into many positive aspects of life: joys, passions and triumphs over adversity.

Performing with her music director Loren Gold (Melissa Etheridge, Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff), Piller and her band are reaching new heights of success in her live show, as evidenced by the dancing, swaying and toe-tapping audience members at the shows.

CROWD REACTION
“I love this music!” said one woman, to nods of agreement from her friends. “Mommy, can we stay for more?” suggested one little girl. When her parents wondered if she would rather go get some ice cream, she said yes but then asked, “Can we come back?” Another young girl, while dancing excitedly to the songs, shouted to her parents, “Fun in the sun!” One couple, who stood to the side of the gazebo-like bandstand, said “We like these songs a lot!”

SET LIST
Songs performed by Sandra Piller in Shoreline Village at Rainbow Harbor:
1. Days Like These*
2. Too Little

LONG BEACH, Calif., March 23 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Families Uniting Families will be extending an invitation to those in the community to join in a “Family Game Night” on March 24, 2011 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at their offices in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, located at 525 E. 7th Street, Long Beach, CA, 90813. The “Family Game Night” is an opportunity to meet the staff and participants in a safe environment where the group will promote “family together time” through a variety of physical games and play to recruit new members into the weekly support groups.

Families Uniting Families is a 501(c)3 charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families.

“Families Uniting Families is pleased to offer this innovative program to meet the needs of fathers, their children, and their families,” said James Schrage, Executive Director/Founder of Families Uniting Families. “By offering this opportunity to the community, we are able to take one more step by offering a proven model in supporting children’s well being that is based on promoting a father’s meaningful involvement in their children’s lives and it will also allow FUF to bolster our positive presence in the community. This effort furthers our mission, supports our current programs, and brings a much needed resource to the community. As a father, I know from a personal standpoint that we need as much support as we can get. There are many challenges out there. This is a safe place to land and we are here every week.”

To address the problem of absentee fathers, CII created Project FatherhoodSM in 1996 to re-engage low-income fathers, particularly in urban settings, in the care and upbringing of their children. Federal funding allowed Project FatherhoodSM to expand in 2006 across Los Angeles County. The Project FatherhoodSM Community Grants Program is part of the Responsible Fatherhood Initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance.

Back on September 21, 2010, Children’s Institute Inc. (http://www.projectfatherhood.org/) announced that Families Uniting Families (FUF) would be one of 10 recipients for a grant to initiate a father support group called Project FatherhoodSM. Since November 2010, FUF has been actively building their Long Beach based “Men in Relationships” support group. Studies show that children without fathers are more likely to live in poverty, use drugs, drop out of school, develop emotional and behavioral problems, and be incarcerated. The presence of participating nurturing fathers has a profound positive impact on children’s health and well-being.

“Project Fatherhood creates community and connections among fathers and within families,” said Dr. Barbara Martinez, Co Facilitator of the Significant Others group, “It is exactly this type of program and exactly this kind of atmosphere we look to promote at FUF, and this program will go a long way in providing help to our fathers and their families.”
