SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., April 4, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Goodwin Publishing, LLC announced today the release of its new audio and e-book, 'Teaching English Abroad: A Financial Prayer Answered' (ISBN: 987-1-937860-20-2), by Jonathan Goodwin.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., April 4, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Goodwin Publishing, LLC announced today the release of its new audio and e-book, “Teaching English Abroad: A Financial Prayer Answered” (ISBN: 987-1-937860-20-2), by Jonathan Goodwin.

This e-book and audio book is written for anyone who wants to explore the world while making money. It’s ideal for people who are about to graduate; are recent graduates; or for those seeking a career change. All that is needed is a B.A. or B.S. degree.

“Teaching English Abroad” is the perfect gift for a recent graduate or someone about to graduate.

“It’s unfortunate, but the current job market in the U.S. and Europe is grim. As a result, many graduates are finding that they have to move in with their parents or take jobs out of their field that pay less – what many consider ‘underemployed,’” explains Goodwin. “Teaching abroad is the ideal alternative – people save money while exploring the world. It’s an ideal situation.”

Many view this to be the bible of teaching English in South Korea.

“It’s written for anyone who wants to take control of their career and life. I did it and I’m anxious to share what I learned with others. It’s a combination of self-help and how-to rolled into one,” adds Goodwin.

“Teaching English Abroad” will show people how to step away from a 40-hour work week and to expand their horizons while helping others. It’s chock full of budget tables and tracks to show people how they can save a little or a lot.

The book is comprised of 10 chapters: My Early Mistakes; A Visit to Korea Rising from the Ashes; Facets of My Life in Korea; Being an Educator; The Savings Mantra; More on Budgeting; Newcomers Ahoy; On the Basics of Learning and Teaching; Traveling in Korea; and Why Do you Need a Financial Education?

These chapters are filled with practical and proven tips that include general financial advice, teaching tips, traveler tips and more. The book will also alleviate any anxieties that people may have about teaching in South Korea.

Readers will learn how to find and apply for the trustworthy private and public schools that are currently hiring English teachers in South Korea. Foolproof tips likely lead to hiring.

And, readers who decide to pursue this career opportunity will get the experience of teaching; have free time to enjoy the country and live a stress-free and adventurous life; and have freedom to explore and live on their own. Basically, teachers who work in South Korea are getting paid to travel the world and to see some of the most exotic locations out there while still making enough money to pay off debt and live comfortably.

The first two chapters of “Teaching English Abroad: A Financial Prayer Answered” are free to download. If readers want more, they can simply name their price at: http://www.iteachenglishabroad.com/books/
or they can order the e-book and audio book combination for a flat fee of $19.95.

About the Author:
Jonathan A. Goodwin is a graduate of San Diego University. He taught in South Korea for three years. He earned the title and position of faculty manager, a title that is synonymous with “Headmaster.” He was in charge of all operations at a top-ranked private academy in South Korea; he knows what it takes to get hired and how to make it as a teacher in South Korea.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., April 3, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Thirty youth leaders from the San Francisco, New York and Minnesota areas are implementing social action projects designed to help their communities in particular and the planet in general, says nonprofit World Savvy. The projects are the students’ way of sharing the knowledge they gained after participation in an innovative one-month immersion trip to Bangladesh to study climate change.

In these impactful projects, students are fusing their first-hand experiences in Bangladesh to their respective local communities in the United States. Since students observed how regional actions could have a direct impact on global sustainability, their action projects will empower their local communities to make a change in order to prevent further global destruction.

In December 2011, thirty youth leaders and five educators from across the United States earned the unique opportunity to experience how climate change is affecting the local environment and community in Bangladesh firsthand. The international trip was part of the American Youth Leadership Program (AYLP), an initiative sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and global education nonprofit World Savvy.

The program is administered by World Savvy (www.worldsavvy.org), a non-profit organization that educates and engages youth in community and global affairs. Program goals include fostering mutual understanding, respect, and civic engagement among young Americans and their Bangladeshi peers.

“Enabling students to meet individuals affected by climate change in Bangladesh helps illustrate the connections between issues, events and people, locally and globally, in a way that promotes informed, positive action,” explained World Savvy’s Executive Director and Co-Founder Dana Mortenson. “Since major issues such as the environment, economy, natural resource distribution, and immigration are truly global in scope, it is essential that we provide students with educational opportunities to view these issues from multiple perspectives.”

While in Bangladesh, youth leaders and educators witnessed the devastation in the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest, and additionally, visited communities that lost farmland as a direct result of climate change. These and many other first-hand experiences provided youth leaders and educators with the understanding that our actions in the United States can have an impact halfway across the world.

After traveling to Bangladesh, Natasha Wood (San Francisco University High School, San Francisco, CA) realized how poverty in Bangladesh and in the world could be decreased by better allocating natural resources. Inspired by this epiphany, she is working to install solar panels in her school in order to decrease excessive consumption. Aury Hernandez (Flushing International High School, Queens, NY) is also focusing on decreasing consumption at his school through lobbying for and raising funds to replace paper towels with hand dryers in school restrooms.

Filip Kostanecki (Wayzata High School, Plymouth, MN) is addressing the lack of awareness amongst his peers in the Minnesota area about climate change by developing an informational website that will also include local events related to climate change that students can attend. Filip is hoping that his website and the events that he is recommending will inspire students to learn more about global issues and encourage them to be more involved in the local and global community.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Feb. 28, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Treadstone 71 announced at the RSA Conference two new certification tracks. The Cyber Intelligence Analyst and the Cyber Counterintelligence (CI) Analyst Certifications focus upon real world, practical activities coupled with theory. The certifications enhance the overall cybersecurity posture of the United States by accelerating the availability of educational and training resources.

“Skilled cyber intelligence and CI analysts participate in the full range of attack surface reduction, OSINT gathering and OPSEC activities resulting in actionable intelligence,” said Jeff Bardin, Chief Intelligence Officer for Treadstone 71 LLC. “The certified analyst engages in activities directly related to the resiliency of government and corporate entities.”

The Certified Cyber Intelligence Analyst studies targeting, collection, production, analysis and reporting opportunities. This includes topics in online anonymity, critical thinking, analysis (cultural, pattern, link, etc.), and a focus on reporting of actionable intelligence.

The Certified Cyber CI Analyst becomes proficient in active cyber CI operations blending theoretical study and live exercises effectively equipping analysts. Topics in denial, counterdenial, deception, counterdeception, perception management are covered.

“Adversaries conduct cyber operations collecting intelligence, disrupting and degrading our cyber operational readiness,” continued Bardin. “Intellectual property is very attractive to adversary exploitation.”

The National Counterintelligence Executive states that CI plays a critical role in reversing the benefits that cyber operations afford our adversaries. Cyber CI collection and analysis increases our understanding of the adversary and how to defend against them. CI operations help identify adversarial tactics reducing the effectiveness of their operations. Collectively, these CI activities increase the cost and risk of our adversaries’ operations while reducing their benefits. CI plays a critical role in enhancing the cybersecurity posture of the United States.

“Adversaries conduct inexpensive operations against our infrastructure resulting in high returns with a low degree of risk in a very short period of time,” stated Bardin. “Adversaries use the Internet to bolster their intelligence activities against the U.S. It is critical that we equip cybersecurity and intelligence professionals with the capabilities to counter these threats.”

The Certified Cyber Intelligence Analyst track starts April 2 and the Certified Cyber CI will be operational during the early summer of 2012.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jan. 16, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — According to The Futon Shop, conventional mattresses are very likely to contain chemicals, some potentially toxic to humans and/or harmful to the environment. Most of these chemical compounds have a cloud surrounding the information on the possible harms they can cause. The way to go green is to choose a mattress with fewer chemicals or no chemicals. The ideal mattress would have low VOCs, no PBDEs, no formaldehyde, and no phthalates. But what are these chemicals and how do they affect the environment and you?

VOCs:

(VOCs) Volatile organic compounds are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. Most mattresses contain considerable amounts of synthetic and chemical-based foams (polyurethane), plastics and artificial fibers, and most box springs are made with chemically treated wood and chemical adhesives. In fact, almost every mattress type contains at least some polyurethane foam components. A good choice to be free of VOCs is a chemically free 100 percent pure Dunlop Latex mattress.

PBDEs:

Polybrominated diphenylethers (PBDEs) are major components of commercial formulations often used as flame retardants in furniture foam. There is growing evidence that PBDEs persist in the environment and accumulate in living organisms, as well as toxicological testing that indicates these chemicals may cause liver toxicity, thyroid toxicity, and neurodevelopmental toxicity. Even though PBDEs are in the process of being banned from use, you can be sure that any older mattress is sure to contain them. If you sleep on an old mattress it is time to upgrade with a USDA certified Organic cotton mattress.

Formaldehyde:

Formaldehyde, a colorless, pungent-smelling gas, can cause watery eyes, burning sensations in the eyes and throat, nausea, and difficulty in breathing in some humans exposed at elevated levels (above 0.1 parts per million). High concentrations may trigger attacks in people with asthma. It has also been shown to cause cancer in animals and may cause cancer in humans. Health effects include eye, nose, and throat irritation; wheezing and coughing; fatigue; skin rash; severe allergic reactions. Formaldehyde is typically used to make adhesives that hold mattresses together.

Phthalates:

Phthalates are animal carcinogens and can cause fetal death, malformations, and reproductive toxicity in laboratory animals. Children may be at higher risk of adverse effects of phthalates because of anticipated higher exposures during a time of developmental and physiologic immaturity. Phthalates are not covalently bound to the plastic matrix and leach out of PVC. The Vinyl/PVC surface of a typical baby mattress consists of 30 percent phthalates that can leach out into your child’s crib. Why risk your child’s life on anything but an organic cotton baby crib mattress.

What is Offgassing?

Polyurethane foam is the number one ingredient in traditional mattresses today. Understanding the dangers from off gassing is why so many Americans are now purchasing organic mattresses. Off gassing from polyurethane foam, releases many harmful petroleum chemicals. These chemicals in mattresses release hydrocarbons that evaporate into the air we breathe throughout a mattress’ lifetime. These hydrocarbons are powerful carcinogenic chemicals, attacking and severely damaging the immune and nervous systems of adults and children.

So where can you get a mattress that is chemical free?

The Futon Shop manufactures natural organic futon mattresses and green futon mattresses by combining the most pure and natural elements inside their organic futons to build the most comfortable and natural organic mattresses, sofa bed mattresses and futon mattresses. USDA certified Organic cotton futon mattresses, American grown long crimp Virgin Wool mattresses, chemically free 100 percent pure Dunlop Latex mattresses and beds, VOC free soy-based foam futon mattresses (CertiPUR-US certified), GOTS certified Organic cotton mattress pad protectors, and all their inner springs bed mattresses are made from recycled steel right here in the U.S. They are also a proud founding member of the Sustainable Furniture Council and a member of the Organic Trade Association. They have been manufacturing American made natural and organic mattresses for over 30 years and have over 2 million happy customers.

In accordance with Federal law, The Futon Shop does use a borate to ensure all mattresses are fire retardant. They will gladly omit the Borate in any mattress purchase order with a note from your doctor or chiropractor.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jan. 4, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Destination Earth (destination-earth.org) has announced the launch of their unique Voluntourism Travel concept with a tour to Cambodia and Vietnam. This adventure highlights their business model, which offers fun, safe adventure tours to those who would like to travel responsibly and give back while enjoying their vacation.

On January 16, twelve travelers are going to Vietnam and Cambodia for an Eco Volunteer trip. Days will be spent both seeing the sites, and donating supplies, teaching English, and staying and eating at facilities that are helping the many people in need. The final two days culminate in a village stay where guests put the finishing touches on a bridge that the group sponsored. This footbridge will allow children to get the education and nourishment from a local nonprofit school that has been inaccessible during monsoon season.

In addition to this project, Destination Earth will be providing a variety of local and international adventure tours into 2012 and beyond. This includes adventures into South America, and shorter Northern California adventure tours as well.

Company president Jud Yaski says, “It’s about time that there is an opportunity for individuals to both take an exciting trip and help the planet at the same time.”

As well as group tours, Destination Earth will be offering these adventures as both Team Building exercises for companies, and as corporate incentive travel, allowing companies to both provide a benefit to their staff and contribute to their social responsibility goals.

The company’s model is to offer intimate adventures with no more than 15 people per trip, allowing the groups to maneuver easily through the varied locals that their trips take them. All trips are designed to not only highlight the “must sees” of an area, but also take guests off the beaten path, to unique environments they would never encounter on their own.

About Destination Earth, Inc.:
The company is the brainchild of Veteran Event producer and world traveler, Jud Yaski. He has partnered with successful adventure travel founder Steve Juba, combining their combined quarter of a century in hospitality to create the ultimate travel experience: Destination Earth.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Nov. 30, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — John Waguespack, is showcasing his new works at The McLoughlin Gallery in San Francisco December 8, 2011 through January 21, 2012. “Deconstructing Hollywood” is his second solo exhibition at The McLoughlin Gallery at 49 Geary Street in San Francisco.

Waguespack emerged onto the San Francisco art scene in 2005 fusing different mediums, oil, acrylic, ink, and industrial design, providing a fresh perspective to his figurative, abstract striped images inspired from current events and pop culture.

“This collection is a result of my time spent in Hollywood this summer. This body of new work encompasses deconstructing Hollywood icons to depicting the Los Angeles landscape. End result – ecstasy,” said John Waguespack.

The opening reception for the artist will take place on Thursday December 8, 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the exhibition will remain on display until January 21, 2011.

“John is an innovator giving pop-art a fresh attitude by blending different mediums and techniques into his work. He is among the 21st Century artists who are strongly influenced by social media and the demands of young collectors to create art they can relate to. It is an exciting, evocative time,” states Joan McLoughlin, Gallerist, The McLoughlin Gallery.
