SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 1, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- SecuGen, the world's leading optical fingerprint device vendor, is pleased to announce the availability of biometric identity management and fraud prevention for SAP(R) system users with the combination of SecuGen(R) Hamster(TM) Plus and Hamster(TM) IV fingerprint readers and bioLock(TM) software from realtime North America Inc.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 1, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — SecuGen, the world’s leading optical fingerprint device vendor, is pleased to announce the availability of biometric identity management and fraud prevention for SAP® system users with the combination of SecuGen® Hamster™ Plus and Hamster™ IV fingerprint readers and bioLock™ software from realtime North America Inc.

SecuGen fingerprint scanners are fully compatible with bioLock software, which gives SAP users biometric control of sensitive system activities at granular levels, such as financial transfers, access to customer or vendor master data and viewing of confidential company reports or intellectual property. Biometric credentials can be re-authenticated when users request restricted information or perform mission-critical activities, using a SecuGen Hamster series reader combined with bioLock software. Passwords become irrelevant and are replaced with robust biometric control. This enhances governance, regulatory compliance and strictly enforces Segregation of Duties (SoD) procedures.

SecuGen fingerprint readers are well known around the world for being accurate, rugged, and affordable. The Hamster Plus and Hamster IV feature Auto-On™, an Automatic Finger Placement Detection technology that checks for the presence of a finger without prompting, thus improving speed significantly. Recognition of difficult fingerprints, such as dry, wet, scarred or aged skin, has been enhanced with Smart Capture™, which adjusts brightness to adjust for such conditions.

Jeff Brown, VP of Sales and Marketing stated, “Our Hamster readers work seamlessly with bioLock and SAP software to give security administrators more control than ever before. If a user fails a SecuGen biometric authentication by attempting an unauthorized activity, a supervisor can be automatically alerted by email of the logged security violation. The SecuGen Hamster reader therefore becomes an integral part of an SAP data loss and insider fraud prevention system.”

“The SecuGen Hamster Plus and Hamster IV are very easy to use with great speed and image quality,” stated Thomas Neudenberger, COO of realtime North America Inc. “We are very impressed with the ergonomics and quality of these readers. The adoption and acceptance of biometrics in corporate environments is dependent on ease of use and convenience as provided by SecuGen’s Hamster line of fingerprint readers.”

Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen, added, “We are very pleased to be working with realtime AG and realtime North America. Together we are able to provide a level of security demanded by SAP customers which happen to be some of the world’s most visible corporations.”

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 21, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — SecuGen and BridgePoint Systems are collaborating to introduce the new TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader, BridgePoint’s flexible solution. The new Reader offers a variety of security options including biometric, PIN and optional PKI challenge-response authentication for increasing or decreasing the level of security, depending on the user’s requirements. The new Reader will be available for preview at SecuGen’s booth, number 18139, at next week’s ISC West 2012 exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader contains SecuGen’s PIV compliant fingerprint OEM module, the SDA04, and is the only device of its kind that is Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) compatible. It is designed to authenticate Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials and mitigate electronic cloning. Attackers who otherwise could make a copy of a PIV credential and then build a clone will not be able to do so when BridgePoint’s TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader is in-place. The attacker cannot copy the private keys that are required to achieve a cryptographic PKI challenge-response, which the BridgePoint Reader is uniquely configured to verify. As a result, attackers are not able to succeed when it comes to getting past either the Personal or Card Authentication Key (PAK and CAK) mechanisms.

The TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader features an advanced, weather-resistant, slim-line design, a user friendly telephone-style keypad, a bright 2 line by 16 character display, a stainless steel conduit port, a USB programming port and dual tamper switches for detecting unauthorized removal.

“When designing this state-of-the-art reader, we were drawn to SecuGen’s fingerprint sensors and OEM modules,” said Thomas E. Corder, president and CEO of BridgePoint Systems. “We felt the technology was unmatched due to its high quality and reasonable pricing structure. “We are very pleased to work with SecuGen and look forward to a long relationship between our two companies.”

Jeff Brown, VP of Sales for SecuGen added, “The TrustPoint 3-Factor Biometric Reader is truly unique in its ability to present a cryptographic PKI challenge-response. We are excited about the prospects for this product.”

Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen stated, “Our goal has always been to deliver reliable, accurate, and affordable products for our developer partners. We are very pleased with BridgePoint Systems’ new Reader and we are honored to play a part in bringing this new product to market.”

About BridgePoint Systems:
For more than a decade, BridgePoint Systems has delivered solutions to help security managers face an ever-changing landscape of threats and challenges. Located at the edge of Silicon Valley, the company offers innovative technology that embeds public key infrastructure in an agile, user friendly way for assuring identity in physical access systems. Among other pioneering efforts, BridgePoint Systems was the first U.S. company to develop smart card readers for use by the Department of Defense in a physical access system. The company was also first to integrate the Department of Defense’s CAC with biometrics in a real world deployment and first to install an interoperable Personal Identification Verification reader in a government, multi-tenant facility.

Some of the nation’s largest government contractors and security integrators such as the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marines, Army Corps of Engineers, General Services Administration (GSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) use BridgePoint Systems’ technology. All of BridgePoint Systems’ products are securely designed and built in the United States.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 7, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — SecuGen, the world’s leading optical fingerprint device vendor, is pleased to announce that the SecuGen Hamster IV v2 and the ID-USB SC/PIV v2 have been added to the General Services Administration’s FIPS 201 Evaluation Program Approved Products List.

The SecuGen Hamster IV v2 is an updated version of SecuGen’s widely deployed FBI Certified, single fingerprint reader while the ID-USB SC/PIV v2 is an updated version of SecuGen’s FBI Certified fingerprint reader combined with a smartcard reader. Both products are fully compliant with FIPS 201, NIST’s standards for Personal Identity Verification, and are expected to be available in the next several weeks.

SecuGen’s fingerprint readers are well known for being very accurate, rugged and affordable. SecuGen distributes its biometric products through Systems Integrators (SIs), Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) all over the world.

“SecuGen is pleased to expand and improve our product line,” stated Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen. “We have always and will continue to work diligently to improve the quality of our technology. That is the core of our business and the reason that so many partners have been loyal to SecuGen over the years. It all comes down to the needs of the end-user customer for highly accurate, robust, and affordable hardware and software products. Our partners know they can rely on SecuGen to constantly push the state-of-the art.”

Dan Riley, Vice President of Engineering for SecuGen added, “We are excited to have our new products listed on the GSA’s FIPS 201 Approved Products List. We have long believed that federal government standards for image quality and matching algorithm performance is of tremendous value to the users of fingerprint technology. The FIPS 201/PIV standards for fingerprint technology are universally viewed as being well designed and run by a vendor neutral third party, that is, the US government. In the long run these standards are a tremendous benefit to end-users and to the biometric industry as well.”

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 12, 2011 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — SecuGen, the world’s leading optical fingerprint device vendor, is pleased to announce that the FBI has certified the SecuGen Hamster IV(TM) v2 fingerprint reader as meeting Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Single Finger Capture Device Specifications. The Hamster IV v2 is the successor to the widely deployed Hamster IV fingerprint reader.

This new version of the Hamster IV fingerprint reader retains the high image quality, rugged design and affordable price of the previous version and adds faster image capture and compatibility with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. SecuGen will be releasing the Hamster IV v2 at a date to be announced.

The Hamster IV v2 is part of SecuGen’s growing line of fingerprint biometric products that are PIV compliant, as defined by the FIPS 201 standard. This line also includes the iD-USB SC/PIV(TM) that combines fingerprint and smartcard readers, the SDA04 OEM module for use in physical access devices, the SDU04P OEM sensor for use in USB peripherals, and SecuGen’s Pro SDKs for the development of FIPS 201/PIV software applications. SecuGen PIV compliant products are used in a growing number of U.S. government, civilian, and military agencies and increasingly by governments and corporations around the world.

Dan Riley, SecuGen’s VP of Engineering said, “Our partners include a significant number of U.S. government integrators. Our efforts are always focused on providing those partners with the best possible fingerprint technologies, products, and components. The Hamster IV v2 is another response to our partner’s needs.”

“We are very pleased that our Hamster IV v2 product meets FBI specifications for PIV,” said Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen. Mr. Lee continued, “FIPS 201 is an important milestone for the biometrics industry. It sets rigorous standards for the quality and performance of both fingerprint hardware and software, and we are proud to offer our partners both. The FBI’s PIV testing ensures excellent image quality of the fingerprint hardware, while NIST’s MINEX testing ensures accuracy and interoperability of fingerprint template extraction and matching algorithms. The industry has accepted these rigorous standards because they are supported by objective, third-party certification.”
