WASHINGTON, D.C., May 14, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — LeaseAccelerator announced today that it has published a new lease accounting whitepaper for lessees that explains the new 2013 FASB Exposure Draft, which the FASB is expected to release later this week. Lessees can download it for free at: www.lesseeadvocate.com, LeaseAccelerator’s publishing arm. The official title is “How to Prepare Now for the Coming Lease Accounting Changes.”

“This edition covers many of the financial, tax, and operational impacts of the new standard on equipment and real-estate leases and explains how to prepare and manage them. It serves as a a step-by-step pathway for lessees from current GAAP to the new FASB/IASB accounting standard,” stated Michael Keeler, LeaseAccelerator’s CEO and The Lessee Advocate’s publisher. “Lessees will need 6-18 months to implement processes and systems to comply with the new standard. But it’s not all about compliance. Lessees can also capture significant savings by adopting the best practices described in the whitepaper and generate a positive ROI for the transition project.”

“This second edition reflects the contents of the May 2013 FASB exposure draft. It also includes feedback from many readers about how to make the document more useful to controllers, accountants, treasurers, procurement, and other executives responsible for lease portfolios.”

Keeler explains, “The whitepaper describes how to create and maintain a database of documents and data in order to ensure completeness, accuracy, and auditability of your data on a sustainable basis. We added a new section to explain how lessees can apply asset-based lease accounting and portfolio management software to simplify the process and enable all stakeholders to contribute to accurate and timely financial reporting.”

Bruce Conway, VP of Operations at LeaseAccelerator, a lease accounting specialist and whitepaper contributor, states, “Most leases will soon be capitalized, and applying the new FASB standard to equipment leases will be administratively more complex and nuanced than real-estate leases. As a result, lessees must be able to perform accounting at the asset level. For example, if there is a clear economic inventive to renew asset(s), the renewal term must be included as part of the accounting amortization term, which means that the accounting term may differ from the contractual lease term on an asset-by-asset basis within the same lease. For this reason, the whitepaper focuses on equipment leasing examples.”

Conway explains, “The whitepaper presents a comprehensive 9-step plan for implementing a transition project and improving the financial performance and visibility of your lease portfolio in the process. Lessees can take immediate action with this document. If you have not done anything to prepare, this will help you get started. If it is already a work-in-process, it will help you sharpen your strategy and tactics.”

“We learned from our Year 2000 and SOX compliance experiences that a well-informed implementation plan reduces fear, risk, and cost. Changes like this don’t have to be scary,” Keeler assures.

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 9, 2013 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Melanie L. Campbell, president and CEO of The National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (The National Coalition) and convener of Black Women’s Roundtable issued the following statement in response to a U.S. Census Bureau report released yesterday finding that about two in three eligible blacks (66.2 percent) voted in the 2012 presidential election, higher than the 64.1 percent of non-Hispanic whites who did so. This marks the first time that blacks have voted at a higher rate than whites since the Census Bureau started publishing statistics on voting.

Campbell said, “Let me first say it’s a great day in America for Black People – especially Black women. It is extremely gratifying to see Census data that reinforces what we already knew: despite rigorous systematic efforts to suppress our vote, Blacks voted at higher rates than whites in 2012. Black women outdistanced every demographic in America and made a difference in the outcome of the election.

“Given the enormous challenges facing our community, The National Coalition’s Board of directors, members and affiliates are proud to have played an integral role in a historic turnout. Working in partnership with A. Philip Randolph Institute and other coalition members, our Black Women’s Roundtable unified women in our communities to help us organize, educate, mobilize and protect the Black vote in 2012. Black women delivered in a powerful way.

“Fifty years after the historic March on Washington – when the Black vote was suppressed across the country – there is no better tribute to the leadership of A. Philip Randolph, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. Dorothy I. Height and other civil rights leaders.

“So, today we celebrate the power of the sister vote as we continue to organize and mobilize to push our elected officials to act in our best interest.”

The National Coalition (www.ncbcp.org) is dedicated to increasing Black civic engagement, women and girls empowerment, youth civic leadership and voter empowerment through its 60-member national organization base, 12 state-based affiliates and networks.

WASHINGTON, D.C., Dec. 12, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Ecologic Leasing Services announced today that the company has completed its first equipment financing transaction in the Republic of Zambia in Southern Africa.

Doug Slais, Ecologic’s Vice President of Capital Sourcing, said, “Ox Drilling Limited in Ndola needed a new drill rig for their expanding business for approximately US $500,000. Ox also wanted to use financing as a tool to align their monthly revenues from their drilling projects to their monthly expenses for the rig and improve cash flow. Our capital sourcing team here at Ecologic worked with the manufacturer’s local sales team to listen to Ox Drilling’s requirements, evaluate their credit, and structure a transaction that met their needs.”

Slais continued “We then tapped Alios Finance in Lusaka, a member of The Global Lessor Network, to finance the transaction. James Muwowo and Ali Saib Diallo of Alios listened to the opportunity and immediately immersed themselves in the transaction. We expect to do a lot more leasing and financing transactions in Zambia, which is a leader in economic growth among the members of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). We also expect to do a lot more with Alios. They were a great partner and easy to work with.”

According to World Bank lead economist Praveen Kumar, speaking yesterday in Lukasa, Zambia’s capital, “Zambia’s economy is expected to grow by 7.3 percent this year, slightly higher than the 6.8 percent growth rate of 2011. The economy has seen robust growth during 2012 in construction, transport and communication services, manufacturing, and agriculture,” he said.

Michael Keeler, Ecologic’s CEO said, “Ecologic Leasing Service provides equipment financing outsourcing services to global companies – both international lessees and manufacturers. We source capital for our clients through The Global Lessor Network (GLN), a community of more than 500 lessors from around the world who are ready to provide local leasing expertise and transact with lessees that fit their credit appetite, equipment interests, and geographic footprint. That’s how we engaged Alios for this deal.”

Keeler continued, “While we run a variety of leasing programs for global manufacturers, over the last few years we have seen considerable growth from manufacturers who already have a mature vendor program that they run themselves or in partnership with an international lessor, such as DLL, CIT, GE Capital, Macquarie, or Societe Generale. Because the footprint of these lessors is typically limited to western industrialized and commonwealth countries, manufacturers engage Ecologic and the GLN to help them finance transactions everywhere else that they sell. Most manufacturers sell in well over 100 countries, while most of these lessors operations are limited to just 20-30 countries.

“Because we use local capital and expertise, we are not limited to bricks and mortar like banks. We can help our clients create incremental sales through financing in any country where they sell equipment and capital is available. So, many of our manufacturer financing programs and transactions are in emerging markets, especially Africa, Latin America, South and South-east Asia, and the Middle-East.”

Keeler explained how the GLN works: “New lessors register at www.lessornetwork.com for free by completing a profile about their company and the type of transactions they want to see. Our Capital Sourcing team will then interview the lessor and review their profile. When the Capital Sourcing team accepts the lessor’s profile, it becomes immediately available in Lease Accelerator, our web-based software service, which is used by our clients around the world to manage their leasing process, and perform GAAP-FASB lease accounting, including Cisco, Cummins, Eaton, Allegheny Technologies and NetApp – even not-for-profit hospital systems, such as Ascension Health use Lease Accelerator.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Ecologic Leasing Services announced today that the company has released a new version of LeaseAccelerator that is designed to enable equipment lessees, the users of leased equipment, to transition in the most efficient and effective manner to the expected new lease accounting standard.

WASHINGTON, D.C., Sept. 12, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Ecologic Leasing Services announced today that the company has released a new version of LeaseAccelerator that is designed to enable equipment lessees, the users of leased equipment, to transition in the most efficient and effective manner to the expected new lease accounting standard. Ecologic made the announcement at the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association’s (ELFA) 2012 Lease and Finance Accountants Conference in Washington, D.C.

Michael Keeler, Ecologic’s CEO said, “LeaseAccelerator 8.0 is unique in that it creates the ability to generate debits and credits for any lease or leased asset under the current Financial Accounting Standard Board (FASB) rules – and also under the different proposed new accounting rules expected in the re-exposure draft. We are the first company to release capabilities related to the new standard because we want to eliminate the uncertainty and risks of transition currently facing equipment lessees as they wait for the new standard to be finalized.”

Keeler explained, “LeaseAccelerator is a web-based SaaS lease accounting solution that is expressly designed for equipment lessees and is currently used by major global companies such as Cisco, Cummins, Eaton, Allegheny Technologies and NetApp and not-for-profit hospital systems, such as Ascension Health. “It manages, controls and accounts for their equipment leasing processes and their portfolio,” he said.

Keeler stressed: “We have had confirmation from major accounting firms that there is no other web-based, enterprise software available today that produces a pathway for lessees from the current accounting standard to the new standard.”

Bruce Conway, Ecologic’s vice president of operations, said: “For many large corporate lessees, leasing is decentralized and managed on spreadsheets which leads to fragmented processes and systems, poor controls, inaccessible accounting details, lack of standardization, poor data quality and inaccurate reporting. This invariably results in cost leakage, compliance failures and accounting weaknesses.”

Conway said: “Many global companies lease equipment all over the world. Because they use spreadsheets and email to track their leases and assets they do not trust their data – and are unable to scale. Corporate finance executives know that spreadsheets alone are not enough to comply with the new lease accounting standards in which most leases are capitalized. Instead, these companies must adopt a software solution and best practices and centralize their documents and data to ensure the accuracy and completeness of their accounting and public reporting. This must take place well in advance of the implementation of the new standard.”

“With LeaseAccelerator 8.0,” Conway added, “lessees can perform what-if reclassification of their entire portfolio, manage and report on multiple sets of books for parallel reporting purposes, and identify renewal and other end-of-term options as being a clear economic incentive – all requirements that have emerged from the various draft standards.”

Jonathan Crawford Ecologic’s vice president engineering added: “Lessees using LeaseAccelerator 8.0 will be able to manage the lifecycle of their assets, leases and lessors. It has highly configurable workflow and tools for lease-versus-buy analysis, transaction management, portfolio management, accounting and financial reporting. In addition, LeaseAccelerator 8.0 can integrate with procurement systems such as iProcurement and Ariba, and enterprise resource planning applications such as Oracle, Peoplesoft and SAP. It serves as a lease accounting subledger generating debits and credits at the asset, schedule and portfolio levels.”

“By implementing many of the emergent requirements in advance of the final standard,” Crawford noted, “Ecologic is positioned to minimize the changes required for lessees to have full, automated support for the new accounting standard as soon as the final standard is released.”

Keeler summarized the impact of the new release: “These capabilities make it easy to reconcile your portfolio step-by-step at the asset level on a monthly basis and produce auditable financial statements with data that you trust – under the current lease accounting standard or the new one. By adopting LeaseAccelerator, lessees can remove the uncertainty of transitioning to the new lease accounting standard and continue to use equipment leasing as a strategic tool for their businesses.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Over 175 youth members of the Young Marines from throughout the country will be attending the 30th anniversary of the National Navajo Code Talker Day in Window Rock, Arizona on August 14.

WASHINGTON, D.C., Aug. 9, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Over 175 youth members of the Young Marines from throughout the country will be attending the 30th anniversary of the National Navajo Code Talker Day in Window Rock, Arizona on August 14.

The Navajo Code Talkers were given much credit for the success of WWII in the Pacific but sadly, they received no accolades until years later when President Ronald Reagan declared August 14, 1982 “National Navajo Code Talker Day.” The year 2012 marks the 30th Anniversary of that special day and Young Marines will be in Window Rock, Arizona to honor these amazing veterans and are also assisting in ceremony preparations.

Volunteer-in-charge of the Young Marines efforts with National Navajo Code Talker Day, Brenda McNulty of Colorado, says this event is not only a veteran’s appreciation experience but also a learning opportunity for the Young Marines youth membership with an additional emphasis on Native American affairs. “I have personally been escorting hundreds of Young Marines to this event since 2006 and this year is expected to be the largest year considering the 30th anniversary and August 14 has been declared a Navajo Nation Holiday.”

The Young Marines national organization has assisted the Navajo Nation in commemorating ‘their day’ for several years, says Mike Kessler, National Executive Director, Young Marines. “Although lost on many calendars, the Young Marines take special pride in letting the Navajo Code Talkers know that their valued contribution to our victory in the Pacific during World War II is legendary, and we will never allow August 14th to pass without proper respect,” Kessler said, “As long as we as an organization are able to attend and as long as the descendants of the Code Talkers wish to commemorate that day, the Young Marines will be there to do so with them.”

Young Marines have been working hard for many months to assist the Navajo Nation with planning this year’s commemoration. The Young Marines have been eager to help and have been an integral part of the planning process as they have been attending this historic commemoration for the last 7 years consecutively.

Young Marines youths and adult volunteers have been busy for months with preparations such as obtaining event sponsorships, arranging gift bags for the veterans and their wives, practicing their marching skills and color guard performances for the parade, and keeping in close contact with coordinators of the Navajo Nation.

Young Marines will arrive a day in advance to assist with last minute details to include assisting the Navajo Nation with event arrangements and to help develop youth leadership.

On the day of the event, members of the Young Marines will lead the event attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, and march in the parade to honor the veterans of World War II. Young Marines youth members will also volunteer for numerous duties, such as serving as escorts to the estimated 25 Navajo Code Talkers, ensuring those in attendance have sufficient amounts of water, and placing a wreath at the memorial as part of the overall veterans appreciation event.

Distinguished guests include Arizona State Governor, Janice Brewer and Major General James Kessler, United States Marine Corps, Commander, Marine Corps Installations Command/Assistant Deputy Commandant for Installations and Logistics (Facilities).

About the Young Marines:
The Young Marines is a national non-profit 501(c)3 youth education and service program for boys and girls ages 8 through completion of high school. The program focuses on teaching the values of leadership, teamwork and self-discipline so its members can live and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The national organization is comprised of over 10,000 youths and 2,800 adult volunteers in nearly 300 units across the United States.
About the Navajo Code Talkers:
Known as Navajo Code Talkers, they were young Navajo men who transmitted secret communications on the battlefields of WWII. At a time when America’s best cryptographers were falling short, these modest sheepherders and farmers were able to fashion the most ingenious and successful code in military history. They drew upon their proud warrior tradition to brave the dense jungles of Guadalcanal and the exposed beachheads of Iwo Jima. Serving with distinction in every major engagement of the Pacific theater from 1942-1945, their unbreakable code played a pivotal role in saving countless lives and hastening the war’s end.

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 18, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — The Young Marines youth organization and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Demand Reduction Program have announced the Young Marines Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Division Awards program. The awards program highlights the exceptional efforts the youth membership of the Young Marines are doing throughout the nation to educate other youths to live and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle in their communities through drug demand reduction efforts. Drug demand reduction is reducing the demand for drugs through education.

As both organizations worked on developing criteria for the award, Drug Demand Deduction Resource Officer for the Young Marines, Joe Lusignan and the leadership of the Young Marines national organization suggested the award be name the Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Division award in honor of DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. Special Agent Camarena was a Marine and in whose honor Red Ribbon Week is celebrated in communities across the nation in October annually. Lusignan says building a relationship with the DEA is a “plus” for our program and the DEA’s Demand Reduction Program.

“They are on the front line in our war against drugs and the scourge that influences all aspects of our society in a negative way,” says Lusignan. “We respect that they take the fight to the enemy (drugs), and for them to encourage and work with our youth, validates what we do and the positive, drug free life we encourage our future leaders to live.”

National Executive Director of the Young Marines, Mike Kessler says the Young Marines organization’s recent work with the Drug Enforcement Administration has been a long time coming. “We are really excited. Our organization has embraced Red Ribbon Week for many years and were the first recipients of the Defense Department’s Fulcrum Shield Award which recognizes the best youth programs for excellence in youth drug demand reduction,” Kessler said. “We are pleased to continue to share our drug demand reduction education work with the DEA.”

The DEA’s Demand Reduction Program will select and present one Young Marines unit from each of the six divisions as recipients of the Enrique “Kiki” Camarena award on an annual basis for their hard work in the area of Drug Demand Education.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is a law enforcement agency; however, they also work to reduce the demand for drugs through the agency’s Demand Reduction Program. Through the Demand Reduction Program, they educate the public about the dangers associated with using illegal drugs and increase their awareness about emerging drug trends, such as synthetics like K2/Spice and bath salts.

Tammy Simpson, Drug Prevention Program Manager, Demand Reduction Section, Office of Congressional and Public Affairs says the Deputy Chief of DEA’s Demand Reduction Programs Eric Akers was so impressed with how much education and awareness that the Young Marines were doing during Red Ribbon Week and throughout the year promoting the anti-drug message their office wanted to bring recognition to the Young Marines organization’s good work.

“It is so gratifying to see the Young Marines involved in community efforts like planning their own regional training, or participating in DEA’s National Take Back Day,” says Simpson. “The Young Marines organization definitely stands out for spreading the anti-drug message and for the positive impact that they are having on their communities.”

Simpson says the DEA’s Demand Reduction Program’s mission aligns with what the Young Marines units are doing nationwide to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. “We have to let our youth know how dangerous drugs are to their health and the best messenger for this is their peers.

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 29, 2012 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Young Marines National Executive Director Mike Kessler, announced seventeen year old McCall Behringer of Baltimore, Maryland, is the organization’s National Young Marine of the Year for 2012-2013. The Young Marines (www.youngmarines.com) is a national non-profit youth organization for boys and girls ages 8 through the completion of high school.

Young Marine Sergeant Major McCall Behringer (17) joined the Hamilton Young Marines, Baltimore, Md. in 2006 when she was 10 years old. She has earned over 120 awards with the Young Marines program including three Personal Commendations, the Meritorious Service award issued at the national level and is the 13th recipient of the coveted Young Marines Distinguished Order of Merit.

Behringer says the Young Marines program provides the opportunity for young Americans like me to become great leaders, inside and outside of the program. “The title of National Young Marine of the Year comes with a responsibility to the 10,000 other Young Marines. There aren’t words to describe the feeling I had the moment my name was called as National Young Marine of the Year.”

National Executive Director Mike Kessler said Behringer will do very well as a national representative of the Young Marines organization. “She has truly done it all. Her demonstrated leadership, judgment, initiative and poise under pressure make her an outstanding selection to carry the mantle of her predecessor,” said Kessler. “Her interview with the selection board demonstrated that she was not only very knowledgeable of the Young Marines program but was able to articulate in such a way that she was proud of her association with the Young Marines. And what I like most about this selection is that she legitimately cares about the kids who make up our membership.”

Behringer’s accomplishments are exemplary and she has participated in numerous events to represent the Young Marines organization on a national level. Prior to her selection as National Young Marine of the Year, she has been active in promoting the organization from an interview with former Vice President Dick Cheney to most recently a guest on Voice America’s TAGG program.

In December, Behringer traveled to Oahu, Hawaii for the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor with 286 Young Marines from across the country. She was also selected to represent the national program with her fellow Division Young Marines of the Year on the Iwo Jima reunion of honor in March, 2012.

Young Marine SgtMaj Behringer says she has learned about leadership, citizenship, and most importantly about herself since joining the Young Marines, “These are values I would not have attained if it weren’t for the Young Marines,” she says, “Between the community service, and discovering a connection with our nation’s history and veterans, I have become a Young Marine every day of my life. I live by the Young Marines values of discipline, leadership, and teamwork and have become the person and Young Marine I have aspired to be.”

Behringer is currently a junior at Perry High school in Maryland. Upon graduation from high school, Behringer plans to attend college and become a lawyer.
