Important Ocean Acoustics References to be added to Knovel Library
DANBURY, CT – June 1 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Knovel Corporation (www.knovel.com), a leading provider of revolutionary Web-based information services, announced a new partnership with the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. SIAM is active in promoting the development, research and application of mathematical modeling and simulation in various industries and also publishes some of the most highly regarded specialized mathematical research reference works and journals.
Knovel’s content partnership with SIAM represents a unique opportunity to showcase high quality applied mathematical references of strong scientific value in subject areas that span Multiscale Modeling and Simulation to Dynamical Systems and Control Theory, on an interactive platform. Some titles will be made interactive using Knovel’s impressive collection of analytical tools that calculate data, resolve equations, sort and export tabular data, and extract data from graphs.
Knovel’s suite of productivity tools combined with the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics’ trusted content will further enhance invaluable resources for academic, scientific, professional, research and engineering communities worldwide and further SIAM’s goal to advance the application of mathematics and computational science in engineering, industry, science, and society. In particular, engineers and multidisciplinary scientists who work in the areas of ocean acoustics and long-range underwater communications and geophysicists working in petroleum reservoir simulation, will be able to use Knovel to find accurate answers quickly and solve their most difficult problems in uniquely resourceful ways.
“SIAM supplies the best multidisciplinary applied mathematical resources and information in rapidly growing areas of industry, manufacturing, medicine, and computing. This partnership is an important achievement because it demonstrates our commitment to always bringing the best of breed information to our customers and the scientific community”, says Monica Nogueira, Director of Channel Development and Professional Societies Relations, at Knovel Corporation.
“Our partnership with Knovel comes at a time when SIAM is expanding its reach, making our specialized content available to more and more users in science and engineering. Knovel’s business model and advanced technology were the right fit for the goals we have set for the future”, says Mary Rose Muccie, SIAM’s Publisher.
The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics joins McGraw Hill, John Wiley & Sons, Elsevier, Springer, Hanser and other prominent Sci-Tech publishers as a publishing partner to Knovel. Other Knovel partners in the professional societies realm include American Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Royal Society of Chemistry and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Knovel Corporation – www.knovel.com – is one of the most comprehensive providers of revolutionary Web-based information services that increase productivity for millions of engineers, scientists and librarians worldwide. Knovel integrates references from over 30 publishers into virtual libraries embedded with analysis software. Knovel’s intuitive platform helps researchers quickly locate data, analyze it, and export the results. Knovel is used by over 375 major corporations, universities, and government agencies worldwide.
About the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
Inspired by the vision that applied mathematics should play an important role in advancing science and technology in industry, a small group of professionals from academe and industry met in Philadelphia in 1952 to start an organization whose members would meet periodically to exchange ideas about the uses of mathematics in industry. This meeting led to the organization of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. SIAM membership has grown from a few hundred in the early 1950s to more than 10,000 today.
The Society has over 400 institutional members-colleges, universities, corporations, and research organizations. To support its diverse membership, SIAM publishes 13 peer-reviewed research journals and approximately 25 books per year and conducts many specialized conferences, short courses, and workshops in areas of interest to its members.
